I have been working at Charter Communications full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits are pretty good, practically free service, excellent medical, 401 savings plan, company vehicle if you work in the field.

    Cons

Work is pretty challenging- quotas are tough to meet in the time given, issues that are out of your control actually count against you. The hours are long, and the pace can wear you out fairly quickly. Management doesn't seem to get the tech side of things, so a lot of us workers dont feel supported. Turnover for field tech positions are very high and it is really hard to transfer to another dept.

    Advice to Management

Start listening to the techs sometimes, they are on the front lines and see the battle first hand.

  2. Very friendly atmosphere however, very unorganized.

I have been working at Charter Communications full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent pay and benefits. Not micro managed and trusted to work independently. Advancement opportunities exist if you apply yourself.

    Cons

Unorganized distribution of job tasks with no standard training programs. Though base pay is decent, raises are minimal.

    Advice to Management

Healthier work environment will alleviate high turnover

I have been working at Charter Communications full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The commissions paid are very high compared to similar companies. The benefits of working at Charter are great.

    Cons

Unfair layout in territory. No tools to use to help with the sale. No promotions given to help attain the sell. DSR s are kind of used as a marketing strategy

    Advice to Management

    COMMUNICATION IS KEY...

I have been working at Charter Communications full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Hard Work equals Great Money, The benefits are good: Health Insurance, 401k and match up to 6 percent, Multiple other benefits to choose from.

    Cons

The Cons depend on the person, I want a 5 Day work week so I feel like they want my life at 7 days a week, but a person that wants to live for their job would love this place!

    Advice to Management

Allow your Sales Team to have a life outside of Charter.

I have been working at Charter Communications full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The benefits are pretty good (free cable). It's an inbound sales job for a superior product that people want. It's easy to sell with conviction in those circumstances. The bonus incentives are pretty lucrative as well.

    Cons

The reason I got into sales is because it's objective (as in the main thing you have to worry about is the sales revenue). This job is extremely subjective and extremely political. There are a million policies and they pick/choose which ones they are going to enforce at which times. It's the only job I have ever seen were a rep was producing outstanding numbers and got fired for not following their vague "call flow" policy. The training is vigorous but still fails to adequately prepare you for the job. Prepare to be micromanaged like never before. I'm still not completely sure what they exactly expect out of their sales reps. I've seen some supervisors abuse representatives. A union presence is needed in this workplace.

    Advice to Management

Let the reps unionize. Stop managing through fear and intimidation. Make your non-sales standards more objective and not so much up to interpretation.

I worked at Charter Communications full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

the free services were very nice, the pay was decent.

    Cons

the commission structure went down the tubes, and a 100% sale rate is pretty ridiculous.

    Advice to Management

give everyone a fair shot and not the people you buddy up with when you get off the clock and go out drinking with them.
