I have been working at Chartwells full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The potential is vast if it is linier and you are willing to move

    Cons

The company will take a chance on an outside hire in a position outside their normal roll but if you are currently in a roll the only real opportunities are in a linier path.

    Advice to Management

Focus on talent you have already I work with some amazing people who, because they are so strong in their rolls the take advantage and limit growth

    I worked at Chartwells part-time

    Pros

It was a decent enough company to work for. As a student working for them on a college campus they really tried their best to take into consideration my school schedule which I really appreciated. They gave performance reviews once or twice a year which was nice.

    Cons

They often boasted about hiring management from within but during my 4 years with the company that was rarely the case.

  6. Part-time associate

    Pros

Very big catering suppliers. Powerful and organized supply chain. People are usually nice and easy to work with.

    Cons

Working as a part-time worker, everybody could ask you to do things. Sometimes there would be a lazy full time associate asks you to help or work their assigned tasks even though you have your own assigned duties. Also, no work, ie paid in the summer if you work in a school canteen.

    Advice to Management

Part-time associate who work a good amount of hours, could be treated more fairly with compensation, break, and meal allowance.

I have been working at Chartwells full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Connecting with other chefs at other schools Freedom to do what I want on menus

    Cons

Zero training They throw tons of online training courses that you have to do. No hands on training whatsoever Trying too much to be like other companies Below average pay/benefits Lack of care for their employees lives

    Advice to Management

I could sit here and type a novel but I can't because I am too busy finishing one of my 12 reports due on my day off.

I have been working at Chartwells full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Opportunities available to students on campus that have the potential to build resumes.

    Cons

I was working under a lazy, angry manager who was incapable of getting anything done. I received almost no input as to what was expected of me and was constantly required to work far outside of my description and scope.

    Advice to Management

You spend a lot more time trying to give the appearance of caring without actually taking the time to care.

    Pros

They are flexible with class schedules, so it is a good student job. It is convenient to go to class then straight to work. It is fun to interact with customers that are mostly college students.

    Cons

The company seriously lacks organization at the store level. Communication tends to be the biggest issue. Sometimes lower level employees have great input, but it never seems to get to the right people.

I worked at Chartwells full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working on Campus of University offers great envirmont to have fun and help students. Lots of food options for lunch.

    Cons

parking arangments are not the greatest having to pay for parking and walk far away from the building while fighting students for spots, low pay and minimal hours.

    Advice to Management

Too many chiefs and not enogh indians. All management should be on the same page and not a break out of items to go to different managers about when getting reprimanded by a different manager for what they tell you to do.
