Great place to work, but what a waste of food.

Food Service Worker (Current Employee) Albany, NY

ProsVery understanding of students needs. My coworkers are great and there never is a dull moment. I work VIP catering events for the top Admin at the University at Albany, as well as arena concessions for events ranging from college basketball tournaments, music concerts, and other various sporting events. In the summer I also get to work for the NY Giants Training Camp.

Consas a student, you cannot make anymore than $10/hour.

Lots of corporate nonsense, such as monthly sexual harassment prevention training.

I am always throwing away food. Employees are not allowed to take home food even if is going to be thrown away.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop wasting food, please create liability wavers so you can donate it to city mission/soup kitchens/food pantries/shelters!

Every time i work, we throw out 50-100 pounds of food. This could feed so many families who can not afford to eat!

ConsGetting a break is non existant most of the time
Their managers can be a pain in the butt and unhelpful

Advice to Senior ManagementFind ways to give employees breaks, especially if they are coming out of the check
Train managers to actually listen to employees issues
