    Sales Candidates Beware

    Account Manager (Former Employee)

    ProsThe technology is great.
    Benefits are good.
Security Engineers were well received by clients.

ConsOn-boarding consists of 40 hours of pre-recorded webinars -- hardly sufficient for the breadth of job requirements. Very little sales support and encouragement from sales management. I stumbled for months because there was no real-world coaching; no substantial introduction to resources and internal systems; no quote development training; no CRM training - how to input data the Check Point way; an Account Base that changed dramatically after (3) months; rotating Sales Engineers. Customers had better relationships with Channel Partners than with Check Point. direct because of the rotating cast of Account Managers. Senior executives have no real understanding of the competitive landscape. Low Pay.

Advice to Senior ManagementSales Managers should support team members; they will throw their team members under the bus very quickly in order to save their own skin. My experience: they only manage upward. Ego-driven environment needs to go.
On-boarding plan should include an assigned mentor.
Significant dollars for Marketing are needed -- there is virtualy none, and the competitive landscape has gotten greater over the years.
Ask the field sales people what's working / what's not -- and listen!

    Check Point Sucks

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThe stock offerings were real and not options so same day sales of vested stock increased my net take home by a significant margin. Those golden handcuffs are the only reason the work there.

ConsThe organization is run in Israel. They don't listen to american input.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your Senior staff before you lose them all.

    Terrible place to work, really.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    San Carlos, CA

Pros+ free lunch if you like waiter.com
+ great view of local regional airport
+ feeling of safety and security behind TSA-certified security apparatus

Cons- Your hours in the office are tracked, even though you are an exempt employee
    - Culture is cheap, prepare to get screwed on travel, bonuses, and stock
    - Many new employees get desktop computers (who does that these days?)
    - High attrition in marketing and sales
    - Marketing is poorly managed, under invested and way behind the times
    - Employees are not empowered to do anything

Advice to Senior ManagementDevelop more trust and empower your employees.
Look at market rates for salary and stock compensation packages.
Address the root causes of high attrition rate.
Stop the excessive micro management by upper management.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Redwood City, CA

    Prosfree lunch, good stable company.

Conslow compensation, management inexperience and don't care what you think. Will only used you and overworked you. you will be scorned at and be humiliated in front of ppl if you don't listen or make mistake. No structure whats so ever. Extreme micromanage. Do not work here!!!

Advice to Senior ManagementShould have better hierarchy. and let employee do their work and learn to treat employees with some respect and dignity, and not used them for only getting sales etc.

    Terrible place to work

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

    ProsTechnology, exposure to exciting projects.

ConsSenior Management (CEO & VPs) Yell, scream, humiliate, abuse employees on a regular basis. When family member was diagnosed with life threatening Illness and I needed a half day to be at the hospital, No to bring personal problems to the office. 1 half day of PTO.
The problem starts at the top and goes down from their. Employees are humiliated on a regular basis in front of peers and the people they manage. The next moment it happens to he person standing next to you.
The saying at Check Point is that they don't fire you but the make you wish they had.
The less contact you have with Management the saver

Advice to Senior ManagementStart taking anti-synoptic drugs. learn how to treat others as humans and not objects.

    QA Engineer (Former Employee)

ProsA Place to start for unexperinced Hi-Tech workers

    ConsVery low salary
    Not many growth oppertunities

The Worst Place I Have Ever worked

    Technical Advisor (Former Employee)

    ProsGood benefits
    Co-Workers are awesome
    Free Lunch

    ConsAbusive and dishonest Management
    Everything is a lateral move
If you point out something that can be done better, even when asked, suddenly YOU are the problem
Lack of hiring when head count gets low
    No understanding of family needs
Schedule changes with little or no notice
Must be willing to quit to talk about a pay raise
If you turn down another job in the company, they can still force you to take it
Going to HR about an issue with management is risky at best

Advice to Senior ManagementQuit lying and abusing your people because you made a mistake. Don't ignore obvious issues with your people being burnt out or overloaded. When someone comes to you saying they need help don't look at them without understanding and say "Everyone else seems to be doing fine, why can't you handle it". That is because everyone is scared if they speak up you'll abuse them until they quit. If you would stop and listen to them maybe you would get something done.

Good place to start or finish your Security career - Otherwise, RUN

    Named Account Manager (Former Employee)

ProsLeading firewall products and growing some.

ConsHorrible management. No communication, arrogant to North American Sales VP who is clueless and shows no interest in changing. Managers and company in North America shows little ability to deal with corporate in Israel. But most of all, have a attitude that customer will always buy from them no mater if support is poor, or customer problems.

Advice to Senior ManagementThink, listen and communicate honestly.

Boring, no advancement, low pay, lazy clueless middle mgmt and gestapo upper mgmt. Stay away!

    Security Engineer (Former Employee)

    ProsFree lunch
Easy place to work if your lazy or looking for a place to go and retire.
    Free Check Point certifications

    ConsVery low pay
    ALL decisions made in Israel.
Middle mgmt is lazy, scared, complacent and just there drawing a check.
Upper Mgmt hates marketing and sales teams especially in the US
US employees are treated as if they are 2nd rate employees.
They think the world revolves around Israel
Very CHEAP., and I do mean cheap on everything.

Advice to Senior ManagementCEO needs to step down/retire and turn the company over to a business process oriented leader. The world does not revolve around Israel except if you work at Check Point.
