I worked at Check 'n Go

    Pros

Easy job to learn and if you have any questions or have a problem you can call another store or even use the intranet forum and chat with other store employees for help.

    Cons

Not many oppertunities for advancement. Not very many hours to work depending on what location you work at. Pay not really worth the stress on busy days.

I have been working at Check 'n Go full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I love my team & my customers they are like family. I feel good being able to be there for them when they need someone financially, and I know that they are able to feel comfortable coming in knowing that I understand that life isn't always easy and that I don't judge them or look down on them because of their situation.

    Cons

The job is very stressful. It seems that the more our goals increase, the more work they want us to do and the less staff we have. The crazy part ,upper management doesn't seem to ease up,not even a little when you are understaffed, they push you harder.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to take a serious look at staffing in some of your districts, there is no reason why districts with 15-18 stores only 20 employees. Nor should employees be losing vacation time because they were unable to take it due to staffing issues. Also I understand the importance of marketing but what I'm not understanding is having stores close to go marketing,I can remember when cng wouldn't let you close to run and grab something to eat because what if a customer came ,you wouldn't be there & and check n go always took pride in it's excellent customer service, well what kind of service are we giving now?? We close our stores for hours to go marketing & then when we are in the store were understaffed and the customers have to wait. Maybe we as a company would do better if we got back to the basics,to whats important,to what makes us better then all the other payday advance companies ,instead of trying to be like them, Get back to caring about excellent customer service & going the extra mile for a customer.

    Pros

Excellent customers, great location, pay was not terrible.

    Cons

Every quarter they would reorganize the districts and it was like playing a game of Russian Roulette. You never knew when you were going to get a bad District Manager or a good one. Micromanaged to the extreme although not as bad as other companies. All in all if they stop the merry go round of changing districts every other day would be a decent place to work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop the revolving door of district reorganization

I have been working at Check 'n Go full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, and challenging. Increases self worth and the feeling of accomplishment. Helping customers through a bind, and building loyal customer relationships.

    Cons

No coverage, can't take any time off, management has unrealistic metrics/ goals, and employees are quitting all the time; leaving their stores uncovered. Their leaving makes it harder for us to stay. Management always wants more from you, they milk you until your dry. Very stressful!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees need more incentives to stay. Management needs to reduce stress levels and work load on individuals, and split it into groups. Employees need to know what is expected of them, and work as a team. Managers do not need to cover other stores, only the CSR's need to do so, since they are only allowed 19 hours a week. CSR's should only cover other stores when they are not needed in their home store. When a store is doing great in metrics, try not to discourage them by dogging them about the things they need to improve on. It's very hard to work effectively and get everything done that is supposed to get done in one day with all the other factors of the day. Internet dropping, technology devices breaking/not working, high customer base, training employees, other stores calling for help, management calling saying do this asap, etc. I have known district managers who have had to cover stores for lack of employees, and they can not finish their work; it's not easy. Some days the work can get done, other days it's a bit harder. We offer so many products, and are expected to do so much; one employee is doing what 3 should do. Yall are cutting costs by having 1 employee do multiple jobs. Don't expect us to not get stressed and overwhelmed. Give us a break please.
