    Unmanageable workload

    Store Manager (Current Employee)

ProsI love my team & my customers they are like family. I feel good being able to be there for them when they need someone financially, and I know that they are able to feel comfortable coming in knowing that I understand that life isn't always easy and that I don't judge them or look down on them because of their situation.

ConsThe job is very stressful. It seems that the more our goals increase, the more work they want us to do and the less staff we have. The crazy part ,upper management doesn't seem to ease up,not even a little when you are understaffed, they push you harder.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou need to take a serious look at staffing in some of your districts, there is no reason why districts with 15-18 stores only 20 employees. Nor should employees be losing vacation time because they were unable to take it due to staffing issues. Also I understand the importance of marketing but what I'm not understanding is having stores close to go marketing,I can remember when cng wouldn't let you close to run and grab something to eat because what if a customer came ,you wouldn't be there & and check n go always took pride in it's excellent customer service, well what kind of service are we giving now?? We close our stores for hours to go marketing & then when we are in the store were understaffed and the customers have to wait. Maybe we as a company would do better if we got back to the basics,to whats important,to what makes us better then all the other payday advance companies ,instead of trying to be like them, Get back to caring about excellent customer service & going the extra mile for a customer.

Was a great place to work until the management was changed

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsExcellent customers, great location, pay was not terrible.

ConsEvery quarter they would reorganize the districts and it was like playing a game of Russian Roulette. You never knew when you were going to get a bad District Manager or a good one. Micromanaged to the extreme although not as bad as other companies. All in all if they stop the merry go round of changing districts every other day would be a decent place to work.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop the revolving door of district reorganization

Good pay, lots of responsibility and multi-tasking, overwhelming and pressured my management.

    Store Manager (Current Employee)

ProsGood pay, and challenging. Increases self worth and the feeling of accomplishment. Helping customers through a bind, and building loyal customer relationships.

ConsNo coverage, can't take any time off, management has unrealistic metrics/ goals, and employees are quitting all the time; leaving their stores uncovered. Their leaving makes it harder for us to stay. Management always wants more from you, they milk you until your dry. Very stressful!

Advice to Senior ManagementEmployees need more incentives to stay. Management needs to reduce stress levels and work load on individuals, and split it into groups. Employees need to know what is expected of them, and work as a team. Managers do not need to cover other stores, only the CSR's need to do so, since they are only allowed 19 hours a week. CSR's should only cover other stores when they are not needed in their home store. When a store is doing great in metrics, try not to discourage them by dogging them about the things they need to improve on. It's very hard to work effectively and get everything done that is supposed to get done in one day with all the other factors of the day. Internet dropping, technology devices breaking/not working, high customer base, training employees, other stores calling for help, management calling saying do this asap, etc. I have known district managers who have had to cover stores for lack of employees, and they can not finish their work; it's not easy. Some days the work can get done, other days it's a bit harder. We offer so many products, and are expected to do so much; one employee is doing what 3 should do. Yall are cutting costs by having 1 employee do multiple jobs. Don't expect us to not get stressed and overwhelmed. Give us a break please.

    Hey, I'm employed

Store Manager (Current Employee) Chicago, IL

    ProsSundays off
    Good benefits
    Cool coworkers(for the most part)

ConsBeing held responsible for debt? Check 'n Go approves them when I can see with my eyes these people aren't going to pay us back and if it were up to me I wouldn't loan to some of these people. Then when they don't pay us, which I fully expected, I'm held responsible for their debt, as it affects my bonus.
    distribute 1200 flyers a week
    poor training

Advice to Senior ManagementStop being ridiculously greedy. I can see exactly how much money my store profits and my salary is much much too low.

    Check n Go

Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) Beloit, WI

Prosprofessional work environment, customer friendly-focused, small team, work indepedently. One manager and one-two staff. Highly organized, variety of experience from handling money, little bit of marketing, collections, etc. Great experience for your resume on the job you really want!

Conshave to wear their Uniforms top, No schedule flexibility since there is only 1 or 2 people working in a store. You can never call in because there is no one to cover your shift.... usually the other person has to work their own shift. And you feel bad calling in because you know they are going to call in your one other co worker. The salary sucks, no raises, no promotions. You are either the manager or regular hourly associate. Can be dangerous since you are doing bank drops in morning alone. Upper Management is high pressure on the store as far as how many loans are being done, sales etc. No overtime or opportunity to advance. If you are working open to close you can't leave for an uninterruped lunch. they don't allow you to close the store for a 30 minute lunch break. benefits etc suck as well.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay your hourly associates more. Allow an uninterrupted lunch break where the store can be closed for 30 minutes. close your stores when weather is dangerous such as winter snow storms etc.

    First Impress

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Cincinnati, OH

ProsThe benefits are better than average and the facilities are very nice - new corporate HQ. Relationships within the department are solid.

ConsThe corporate culture of bureaucracy and "ownership" of initiatives is extremely frustrating and annoying. Departments work against one another rather than together. Compensation for employees varies dramatically and does not seem to be based upon anything other than negotiation.

Advice to Senior ManagementBetter communication to employees about projects being pursued by the company. Imformation is always provided after something has already happened. Also, the public relations department has done nothing to curb negative image of company and product.

Advice to Senior Managementset metrics that managers can have control
