I have been working at CheckFree

    Pros

    Flexible schedule for work/life balance

    Cons

No communication between management and subordinates. Benefits are terrible. Employees pay most of the premium for health insurance which doesn't cover much in benefits. HR department doesn't have any clue to policies of the company. Management is incapable of making decisions and once decisions are made, they change like the weather. Policies in place are only for the benefit of management. A lot of dead weight in management. No decision makers or leaders exist at CheckFree.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop hiding information from subordinates. Develop a true business model of managing a company and stop letting clients get services for free because you do not want to upset them. And get rid of dead week such as VPs that do nothing put sit in their offices on the phone. Also encourage advancement throughout the company

    Pros

This a post-mortem review since they have recently been acquired by a larger player in the industry. They had been an employer, though misguided about how to guide and promote an associate, treated you with some fairness in work/life balance and salary. I say this with some reserve since it depended on your department.

    Cons

Once again, post-mortem. Since the acquisition by a larger player the company is pretty much a shell of its former self. Most senior management has either been forced out or left at this point. The new company behaves like most take-over operations and has given remaining associates the rough side of the hand. If you work in the former HQ of CheckFree expect to see further reductions in head-count and to be marginalized if you are not key to management goals.

More technical positions look to be the direction for this company. But beware due to the fact the new owner is known for outsourcing everything but the kitchen sink. Your lifespan may be short.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Since most CheckFree senior management have already left I can't give much advice. Other than you timed your exit well in this industry. But, you sold out the company to a real lemon.
