    I worked at Cheesecake Factory

    Pros

I worked at the Fort Lauderdale Las Olas location. The store has an awesome staff, and I met many great friends. Great serving job to do while pursuing other passions. Also, Cheesecake Factory has a rigorous training program while hard at first, it will grant you many future opportunities in the service industry. Cheesecake servers know what they're doing. I never found any issues with the managements, because I followed protocol and was respectful in the workplace. My work ethic was rewarded with compliments, good serving sections, and a prime schedule. The GM is a former football player and treats the restaurant like a sports team. I don't think that's a bad thing, actually. Play your part and you'll see results.

    Cons

The seasonal aspect of the location makes it hard to predict business. Some days were completely dead, and I'd walk out after only having 3 tables (September-October). Other times, you could be short staffed during shift change and end up running around like crazy. Also, the guests can be a little nuts and unpredictable, but that's South Florida for you.

I know it's like this in a lot of restaurants, but the cook line was ridiculously disorganized and cared nothing for anyone on the other side of the window. They don't cooperate with servers or managers and are just there to get a paycheck, rarely worrying about the food quality, presentation, or timing. Probably one of the worst lines I've ever had the displeasure of working with.

I have been working at Cheesecake Factory

    Pros

The best thing that comes out of working there is the room for personal growth that they offer. I started off as a server quickly became one of the Designated Trainers(DTs) and within a year they promoted me to bartender.

    Cons

They seem to be lacking on their management end. The restaurant that I work at has had 3 new managers and from what I can see from them, and from the managers that have been there for awhile, is they need a better training program for their managers. Most of the time they seem like they are running around with their heads cut off and most of their decisions don't always seem to be the best choice just the first thing they think of.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I know there is a lot to know from working there. From 260 items on the menu and having to know 100 different drink recipes I know that this company has a lot they want and need you to know, but in there training program it seems they focus all the training on what you need to know recipe wise and presentation and very little on how to actually manage the restaurant and running it smoothly.

    I worked at Cheesecake Factory

    Pros

    -possibility to make good money

    Cons

-the uniform literally gets SO dirty. Impossible to keep clean
-large language barrier between servers and kitchen staff. None of them speak English
-large drug culture at the restaurant I worked at. Many people on drugs during shifts including managers. This is a little unsettling for new employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    I worked at Cheesecake Factory

    Pros

Great Staff, Friendly Management, Awesome Company Culture

    Cons

Mediocre Pay, Terrible Clientele, Aims to bring in a clientele that chooses to go elsewhere (instead, low-income, terrible tippers think of it as a super classy dining spot)

I worked at Cheesecake Factory part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good money for a server position

    Cons

Management seemed out of touch. I blame corporate breathing down their necks with unrealistic expectations. Food service can never be perfect all the time, but that seems to be the expectation

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tell corporate to get a clue, somehow, someway

Former Employee - Busser in Cheektowaga, NY

I worked at Cheesecake Factory part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great money to be made. (Worked as a busser)

Flexible hours, and with a very big staff its very easy to pick up shifts or find a cover.

Opportunity to move up the ladder, many have started as bussers and have gone through into serving, bartending or management.

    Cons

On bad days. No money to be made. On my worst day, I left with $4 in my pocket.

Constant change of managers. Some are awesome but many are garbage.

You time or hard work isn't always appreciated.

Many servers undertip bussers although some are extremely nice and generous. Managers dont get very involved with tipping out so alot of drama in this area.

Managers lack empathy, all they want is the turn of the table and sales. You get paid $5/hr. They dont care.

Many times you will think if its even worth it. Money is decent but environment can be tough at times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Value your employees.

I have been working at Cheesecake Factory part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Co-workers and pay is the biggest pros to working here. My co-workers were always helpful and made some friends. The pay is also good as you can learn different positions to get paid more.

    Cons

Managers, hours, expectations are three cons I can think of now. The hours at this specific store are horrible as its open every day out of the year. On holidays there isn't holiday hours if anything the store opens earlier. The managers are another issue as they tend to give poor hours. An example of this is having to close one night in the morning time then open the next morning.

    Pros

provides benefits for employees, great traveling opportunities if you want to transfer

    Pros

Work with great people, fun characters, and generally a fun place to work with a lot of attractive people

    Cons

You will get screwed over by the guest, by the manager's, and unfortunately, by your coworkers, but it is part of the job as a server.
