Senior Medical Officer (Current Employee)
Balikpapan (Indonesia)

I have been working at Chevron full-time for more than a year

Prossafety conscious, integrity in business

ConsBig business climate of fear and sameness in personalities of employees

Advice to Senior ManagementYou can't tell employees to "be creative" while they live and work in a very restrictive environment

– I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Project management

Project Manager (Current Employee)
Jakarta (Indonesia)

I have been working at Chevron full-time for more than 10 years

ProsUse a very dilligent approach and its mechanism. Allows a visible thinking on 'solution' alternatives generation for any identified project.

ConsSome of double dipping activities / documents to be generated. Too many project meetings!

Advice to Senior ManagementConduct project management review for minimizing the unecessary activities

Decent environment but minimum wage and no benefits.

Clerk (Current Employee)
Vancouver, BC (Canada)

I have been working at Chevron full-time for more than a year

ProsIf you like to pay rent and groceries, it will do.

ConsHaving to call 911 at least monthly for various offences including passing counterfeit money, shoplifting, malicious damage to property, unwanted guest (will not leave premises). This does not including people pointing fingers under their hoodies at you and others threatening to get you fired when they don't get free gas or win the lotto, etc. Schedules changes are unpredictable.

It's not the best and it's pretty mismanaged

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Chevron

ProsSalary and benefits. Some coworkers are experienced.

ConsManagement decisions are not in the best interest of the company. There is a big discrepancy on how well you will do based on where you are located.

Advice to Senior ManagementShare success stories and learn from each other.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Chevron

ProsGood culture overall. Pay not as good as other companies but happy to have a jov at this time period.

ConsHardly any opportunity to move up as a contractor. Batchelor is a must if you plan on getting a job here.

Good combination of technical experience and management roles.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Chevron

ProsGreat benefits. Pension 401K and excellent compensation. Good work experience if you work in Upstream. Plenty of opportunities in USA and overseas. Good training program in Horizons. I wasn't a big fan of relocation and I ultimately wanted to go into working in the refinery in Downstream.

ConsNot very open to employees moving around in business units. Business unit I worked for was a black hole for employees. Also, employees are marked with a black tag if you refuse to move to where the company needs you. Even if your transparent about your personal needs, the end goal is the company's profit.

Advice to Senior ManagementHelp employees develop career in where they want to go as opposed on focusing on just company profit. Be reasonable in determining where to reassign employees.

Strong Company with Improvement Opportunities

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Chevron

ProsExcellent safety culture, large corporation with many job opportunities, management encourages work/life balance, global company that embraces diversity, Chevron Way - documented company philosophy for how to conduct business and work with others

ConsToo many processes and procedures, knowledge transfer skills are lacking, resources can be difficult to acquire at times (do more with less mentality), training could be improved

Advice to Senior ManagementWith an aging work force, it is going to be important for Chevron to invest in strategic hiring, transfer of knowledge, and onboarding/training of new employees.
