    Good place to start

    Supervisor (Current Employee) Houston, TX

ProsAwesome development program for new engineers. 9/80 work schedule

ConsLess pay then parent companies. Management mandates tasks without considering resources. You'll be working 13hr days.

Advice to Senior ManagementDiversify product lines. Ethylene is too cyclic to depend on.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Baytown, Texas (Current Employee)

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

Pros9/80 Work Schedule, every other Friday off (when not asked to work it), 401k & pension.

ConsExcessive micromanagement. Little training offered for new employees due to coping with the pace of change. Lack of commitment to career growth to retain the talent the company has. Work life balance is given, but at the price of not advancing in your career. Working unnormal has become an expected normal. There is the sale of Diversity & Inclusion the sale of Career Ladder Growth & Opportunity, but there is no follow through on it.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo not hinder employees who do not want to work constantly from growing in their careers. Stop talking a big talk to develop current employees, but ulitmaltely take contradicotry actions. Develop a better training for new employees to prevent thier being set up for failure. Hire more people to accomodate the rate of growth.

    Great benefits, Decent work experience

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

Pros9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), 401k profit sharing and contribution matching, pension, high salary relative to other engineering fields, job stability, relocation compensation

ConsWork is not very exciting or challenging, guidance for new employees is lacking, a few of the locations are in "undesirable" locations (Borger, Orange, Port Arthur)

Advice to Senior ManagementA few managers are more concerned with their work than actually managing their employees

    Buyer (Former Employee) Houston, TX

Prosgood pay and benefits, nice bonuses and raises, pension, 401k company match

Consoffice culture, very poor management, poor management culture and techniques, no management oversight to how lower level managers treat their employees, no ethics environment for bringing issues forward if management is terrible

Advice to Senior Managementhelp your employees grow, don't hinder them because you're stuck in a box!!

Growing fast, but did not plan well for the growth.

Chemical Engineer (Current Employee) Houston, TX

ProsLots of opportunities available. They'll move you around fast. Building lots in the US.

ConsNo technical career ladder, flat organization. Lots of experience leaving the company for better paying companies. Replacing experience with recent college graduates and struggling a bit to get best candidates due to stiff competition from bigger petrochemical competitors.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay more attention to hiring and retaining experience. Develop a technical career ladder.

    Pays well, but super boring.

    Intern (Current Employee)

Pros• It is a billion dollar company, and feels like it.
    • They pay phenomenally well
    • Perks aren't bad
    • If you're an engineer, which I was not, this is probably a very interesting place to work.

    Cons• Very very monotonous
    • Not great work/life balance

Advice to Senior ManagementPay closer attention to your employees wants and needs -- as cliche as that may sound.

    Chevron Phillips Chemical Company

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Bartlesville, OK

ProsGood base salary and excellent profit sharing.
Benefits seem commensurate with other chemical industry companies but not with oil company parents.
Employees are not discouraged from expanding job scope.

ConsOpportunities for advancement in US-based jobs seems minimal.
Staffing in most areas too lean.
Recognition for jobs well done are lacking.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere is a lot of focus on Operational Excellence, but it seems like it is more for show and tell than a way of doing business.

Potential is there...Do you have time to get it there?

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Sweeny, TX

ProsCompany is making money. I see potential.

ConsThere is so much that needs to be done. You would think that since this company is owned by two of the giants (Chevron anc Conoco Phillips) that this chemical company would run smoothly. The company is behind times and gets little support from corporate.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet rid of the dead weight and get some people who are ready to move this company forward!
