Current Employee – been working at Chevron Phillips Chemical full-time for more than a year
Pros – I’m a relatively new employee (been here a little over a year), and I’m really enjoying working at Chevron Phillips. My pay and benefits are very competitive with my friends/colleagues who work in my field at other companies. My job is interesting and stimulating, but I feel like I have adequate resources to do my job. I’ve worked at two other companies – one small company and one giant corporation – and the thing that stands out the most to me so far about Chevron Phillips is the family atmosphere (at least that I’ve noticed at my location). The company even has what they call a “fun committee” whose sole purpose is to plan fun activities for employees during work hours, like a tailgate party during football season and a barbeque lunch during Rodeo season. I truly feel like my need for a work-life balance is valued, and that’s something that’s really important to me. As for the culture of the company, what I’ve noticed so far is that there is indeed a strong safety culture.
Cons – I haven’t worked here long enough to have anything to complain about, but I’ve heard some employees say it would be nice to have more training.
Advice to Senior Management – In an industry that will soon struggle to fill all of the open positions, I think CPChem is well positioned to hire the best of the best. Although the bonuses we receive are huge, it will also be important to make sure that employees’ base pay remains on par with the other leading companies in our industry.

Former Employee – worked at Chevron Phillips Chemical
Pros – Very good opportunity to interact with management. There was very good company culture, employees were expected to be productive but the work environment wasn't extremely driven. CPChem has a very good mentoring program and they attempt to accomodate their employees career goals. Most employees are satisfied with their company experience. Management provided useful feedback through employment.
Cons – The compensation was good but not quite as much as comperable positions in the petroleum industry. If you're looking for a huge company, go somewhere else. Most of the management team is familiar with the management at the other sites. Not all seasoned employees were thrilled to work with new hires but most were helpful.
Advice to Senior Management – Hire enough new engineers to replace your aging workforce.

Former Employee – worked at Chevron Phillips Chemical as an intern for less than a year
Pros – I worked at CPChem as an intern as a process engineer and this was one of my favorite internships. All of the employees (from technical field workers top management) are more than happy to help out and teach, something that's not always the case.
Cons – I only worked there for two months as an intern, and I have no complaints!

Current Employee – been working at Chevron Phillips Chemical
Pros – It's big enough to have some stability and small enough that you feel you can make a difference. They've consistantly had merit programs and given bonuses.
Cons – Limited opportunities for job changes and growth at mid management level.
Advice to Senior Management – It would be nice have a path to move back into jobs at our parent companies. There's not many chances to move within the organization.
