    Great place to work

I have been working at Chevron

    Pros

Pension (one of the few), 400% 401k, lots of vacation, amazing work life balance.

    Cons

Lack of willingness to cut dead weight or hold employees accountable for low productivity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Soft weak employees are not fired. The company has tremendous potential but allows lazy employees to stick around forever. Needs a slightly more competitive work environment.

I have been working at Chevron full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Competitive pay, great health benefits, great pension plan

    Cons

Working for a big company like this means there are a lot of job responsibilities that may not directly correlate to your job description but must be done.

I worked at Chevron as a contractor

    Pros

there are couple of things that make this company great.
1- Care for employees, high emphasis on safety even in office jobs. Never in my life I saw stretch breaks emphasized for finance group.
2- Good policies and empathy from higher management if one is facing troubles at home.
3- More emphasis on process, "do things right".
    4- Great work life balance.

    Cons

several systems in place, which are not always synced. limited opportunities for individuals, who are not engineers.

    I worked at Chevron

    Pros

    Great People
    Amazing growth opportunities
    Good Compensation
    Excellent time-off policies/sick days
Awesome industry filled with amazing technology and resources

    Cons

Lots of process and policy to get projects done- can sometimes test patience.
Big company, few projects based on job function and location.
There are days when you feel like not a lot gets done because of the slow internal review process.
The internal website feels like it was made in 2001 and ease of access to information is mediocre (can take 30 min to an hour to find simple information)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

STEM jobs are important but so are business related job functions. Don't create a culture where your employees feel undervalued based on educational background.

I have been working at Chevron as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Tone from the top is ethical and inclusive. The work is challenging, the people I work with are great, and my supervisor is one of the best I've worked for and work-life balance is amazing. Contractors are treated with respect, opinions are valued and we are not treated as less because we are not a full-time employee.

    Cons

I have no cons other than I'm a contractor instead of a full-time employee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work, Chevron is the best place I've ever worked in my 20+ years of being in the workforce as both a contractor and full-time employee.

I have been working at Chevron full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, work-life balance. A very structured organization with focus on teamwork and safety of its employees.

    Cons

Due to the size of the company, promotions are difficult unless you travel over seas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider promoting employees based on merit and previous experience (with other companies) instead of promoting those who are willing to travel and gain experience only with Chevron.

    Pros

Good place to work with great people. The company goes out of their way to take care of you and your career goals. They offer education budgets, free conferences. Managers are willing to listen to your specific needs and work with you. The take-home pay is lower than other places but the benefits package is amazing.

    Cons

Processes and policies can hinder. For the most part these are in place to help employees.
