    Pros

There is pride in working for an organization that does such wonderful things for children and their families. There is a clear and noble mission directing the work that's done here. They have very fair compensation and good benefits. Very competent senior leadership has left Children's in a good financial position compared to other area hospitals.

    Cons

It's in a tough commuter location, not very easy for most poeple to get too. There is the perception that some managers are in their roles because they are "connected" with the right people and therefore are not held to the appropriate level of accountiablity.

    Advice to Management

Provide more training and mentoring opportunity for the middle- management staff . Set clearer expectations of what it means to be a good manager and to develop talent. Provide clearer career paths for non-clinical staff.

    Pros

Great learning opportunities of computer systems and they give tuition for courses related to job.

    Cons

Some departments have managers that shouldn't be managers but they simply have been there for a long time and been promoted.

    Advice to Management

Make sure that you are supporting your employees while expecting them to act as maturely as possible because of the sensitive matter of their job.

    Pros

YOU HELP KIDS. BENEFITS. PENSION. MAJOR ROOM FOR ADVANCEMENT. Overall, you really feel like you are making a difference, regardless of your position.

    Cons

Doctors aren't exactly the most down to earth people in the world. Once in a while you find one that's cool. Plus, the office politics can be almost embarrassing to witness.

    Advice to Management

Take care to keep a positive workplace and realize that training needs to be better for new hires. Also, realize that starting a new job and being the new person really isn't the best experience.

    Pros

Every employee across the board seem to be satisfied working in Children's Hospital than in any other hospital. Management makes an effort to recognize the value of its employees. The proximity with other well known hospitals and research facilities allows for an enriching environment to peform research.

    Cons

No good parking for employees, however, there are plenty of choices for public transportation. Wish cafeteria was open late night.

The whole environment is so friendly. The benefit is good. You have opportunity to learn from your great colleagues having various background.

    Cons

The competition make you have to work hard, which is good in one hand but you will feel tired sometime as well.

    Advice to Management

I have no commend on his leadership. The Children's Hospital Boston ranks first in six out of 10 specialties in nation according to the 2011-12 edition of Best Children's Hospitals by U.S.News & World Report. This fact itself means something.

    Pros

Boss (PI) extremely encouraging, skilled and motivated. Culture and atmosphere of the hospital and staff very supportive, warm and welcoming. Felt like a community. Longwood Medical Area is also a great place to work and be involved with on a daily basis.

    Cons

Would have liked to been paid more, but that is an across the board complaint for any institution. Training modules were somewhat annoying, but super minor complaint (kind of fishing for things to say here)
