    Pros

great atmosphere, flexible scheduling, heading in a great direction with this brand

    Cons

GWAP (guest with a problem) is unfair. It is based on a survey that guests take on the ziosk after payment and it asks if there was a problem... A LOT of problems have to do with food correctness and how long the food took which is a problem with the kitchen not the servers and yet we still get the slack from our percentage of guests with a problem while the kitchen hears nothing of it....

    Advice to Management

Don't have blatantly obvious favorites and hold the kitchen accountable for the GWAPs that they cause

    Pros

Good pay for a temporary job. Management is flexible on scheduling. Good job to have if you are a student.

    Cons

You lose your weekends and often evenings to work. There is no break in a typical shift. Money is not guaranteed as you rely on tips from customers.

    Advice to Management

    Hire more intelligent people.

    Pros

Working at Chili's is never boring.

The 401k is great. They offer a 5% match on 6% invested. That's one of the best 401ks around.

    The culture is great.

The brand is growing and doing very well.

    Cons

Work/life balance is something that seems impossible in the restaurant industry. While they have tested some ideas in certain markets like investing in a larger management staff to accommodate more time off they have failed to roll this forward. Turnover for managers seems to remain fairly high.

Most areas do not ever become "fully staffed" and when there is a shortage the rest of the area is called on to help cover. This means you will be away from your home for a couple of nights each month until things get back to normal.

Career opportunities are lacking. Becoming a restaurant manager is very attainable. A general manager position is attainable if you are willing to move. Anything past that the company is stagnant. From the area director level up there is not a lot of moving pieces. That results in general managers that have been in their role for 10+ years everywhere. It's hard for these people to remain passionate about what they do when they have not been challenged in years.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to fix work/life balance.
