I have been working at Chili's part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Chili's takes you in like a family. Though there are new rollouts of food almost every month, the company helps notify servers and managers in a timely manner to get their staff ready for new items. Managers, for the most part, are great with helping your shift go smoothly and dealing with stressful situations. I have been an employee for almost 5 years while going to school and Chili's has always been flexible with my schedule. Chili's is like a new family and I highly recommend working here if you enjoy the service industry.

    Cons

Only con I can think of is the menu changes a lot, but that is about it.

I have been working at Chili's part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Chilis is indeed a family oriented place. For the most part your management team if they like you will work hard to help you unless you have a poor management team which can happen during transition.

    Cons

Management can let you down very quickly. They will pretend they have given you all the tools but in reality they have not. You can bypass this by talking with the right person which is sometimes hard to do but can be done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your servers. If you take care of your servers they will take care of your guest and you wont have as many issues.

I have been working at Chili's full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

If you're outgoing like I am, this is definitely the place to work for. This company really cares about you. The managers are always willing to help.

    Cons

Working holidays like Christmas Eve. Sometimes working in the resteraunt industry there will be days where you make more money than the day before or vice versa.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the good work!

I have been working at Chili's part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Above minimum wage. Flexible hours. Hourly wage+tips.

    Cons

Very busy and hectic during peak hours. A lot of yelling in the kitchen. Multiple things to do with only one person (you) to do it at one time. Was not scheduled for a lot of hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Re-think scheduling. If you have too many people let some go. Don't automatically punish an employee if a customer complains.

I have been working at Chili's part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

I guess I could say the hours, but I don't get paid much, but it's Chili's. Everyone I work with I actually like, we're all in the same boat together, and try to make the best of being there. There's always one you want to suffocate with a pillow though. My managers are awesome, and easy to talk to, and try to accommodate the best they can for the preps, but they're a manager at a busy Chili's and other things need attention as well, and prep is out of sight out of mind work. Thankfully, the turn over rate is high and my managers have listened to my request of no longer being a prep.

    Cons

For the amount of work Chili's makes their Prep Cooks do it is an absolute crime how little money they make compare to the servers who are not even appreciative. Chili's has been really pushing their "fresh" ingredients, and the prep cook are the only ones who really suffer from it. Chili's says the prep cooks are supposed to be done at 3:30, that's a complete lie. Thankfully, I only work two/three days a week now and not full time or else I wouldn't have a life outside of work. I come in at 8 in the morning, and if I'm lucky leave at 8 at night. So work consumes the whole day really.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No advice to management. They try to do their best, and I truly believe they care, and help when they can, but understand when they can't. The real problem is with corporate making the preps lives miserable. Those pickles/ribs you make on your videos in your quiet kitchen look good, but they're hell to make in large amounts when you're open and the restaurant needs other things as well, and you still need to look at the new roll out recipe items every two weeks from corporate.

I have been working at Chili's full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Opportunities for advancement, benefits, everyday is different, paid vacation, tuition reimbursement, good co-workers, salaried, opportunity for raises yearly, six paid sick days

    Cons

Very long hours, at least 10 hour shifts, required to work 50-55 hours weekly, always changing policies, no overtime pay when working more than required hours

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Needs more structured advancement program, management and employee training programs are very unorganized. When rolling out new food items the kinks should be better worked out before going to store level. Some policies not clear, too much leeway and guesswork when disciplining employees. Back office computers very old and slow, hindering completing your responsibilities.
