    Pros

Lots of training supplied for inexperienced servers.

    Cons

Seniority = a free pass to basically do whatever you want.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It wouldn't kill you to actually do something about the few "bad" apples on your staff, instead of ignoring that they are a problem because of their seniority.

    Cons

Management pay people no life the hours suck if you're part time just know you are really full time

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe choose mangers that speak to their team respectfully, who actually care & will help by any means. Give your chilis heads a life!!! The hours suck & you never know when you'll be off. Terrible pay for what we go through.

I have been working at Chili's part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

I guess I could say the hours, but I don't get paid much, but it's Chili's. Everyone I work with I actually like, we're all in the same boat together, and try to make the best of being there. There's always one you want to suffocate with a pillow though. My managers are awesome, and easy to talk to, and try to accommodate the best they can for the preps, but they're a manager at a busy Chili's and other things need attention as well, and prep is out of sight out of mind work. Thankfully, the turn over rate is high and my managers have listened to my request of no longer being a prep.

    Cons

For the amount of work Chili's makes their Prep Cooks do it is an absolute crime how little money they make compare to the servers who are not even appreciative. Chili's has been really pushing their "fresh" ingredients, and the prep cook are the only ones who really suffer from it. Chili's says the prep cooks are supposed to be done at 3:30, that's a complete lie. Thankfully, I only work two/three days a week now and not full time or else I wouldn't have a life outside of work. I come in at 8 in the morning, and if I'm lucky leave at 8 at night. So work consumes the whole day really.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No advice to management. They try to do their best, and I truly believe they care, and help when they can, but understand when they can't. The real problem is with corporate making the preps lives miserable. Those pickles/ribs you make on your videos in your quiet kitchen look good, but they're hell to make in large amounts when you're open and the restaurant needs other things as well, and you still need to look at the new roll out recipe items every two weeks from corporate.

I have been working at Chili's

    Pros

The position was very easy. I didn't have to do much at all. Lots of standing around and the shifts weren't very long. They were about 6hrs maximum.

    Cons

Management was very unfair. They played favorites especially when it came to scheduling. They were very inconsiderate and talked down upon their employees quite frequently.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hosting is not rocket science. Don't tell me how to do my job.

    I worked at Chili's part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

free food if you worked a double shift
    50% off all chili's and maggiano's restaurants
certain discounts on products such as consoles, cars, etc.

    Cons

I had 4 managers that never seemed to communicate with each other and each wanted different things from us. i was a host, so I was the first to deal with customers and had direct communication with the managers via headset. One manager never had hers on so I always had to run to the back to find her, leaving the door unattended thus getting yelled at by impatient guests. No tip out system although the hosts were also bussers. They got rid of bussers so it's up to the servers to clean their stations but most of the time they didn't. We were a very high volume store, yet we were severly understaffed. I worked 6 day weeks usually 9 hours a day. One manager yelled at me for staying overtime even though the other manager didn't give me a break and asked me to stay later. Goes to show how well everyone communicated. Just overall an awful experience, and I left crying many nights. Also, on a busy Friday night I had an awful server who couldn't handle more than 3 tables at a time and cursed me out in front of all our guests yet the manager that night did not do anything to handle the situation because they were in a sexual relationship. Worst place I've ever worked at and would not recommend to anyone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You all preach communication yet when it comes down to it, no one cares and seems to do things their own way. Train your staff better, and don't keep a high volume store so understaffed that you overwork the workers you do have, and then yell at them for working too much.

    I worked at Chili's full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Fun staff. Fast pace. High energy. Front of house shifts were decent most of the time.

    Cons

Spend most of your time cooking. Everything was microwaved due to no time to prep and cook properly. Managers always having to work in kitchen. Constant issues in the kitchen lead to having to comp a lot of things, then you get in trouble for comping things. Constant high stress level. Women and single employees are treated better than those married with kids and men.. Absolutely no concern for quality of life. Too many menu changes. Even the full time kitchen employees don't know the ingredients. But hey, they just throw them in the microwave anyway. Chili's does not care about employees or customers, only the bottom line. I worked for multiple Chili's in multiple states. I thought it was bad in my original area, but is worse in other areas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop trying to think of grand new ideas and start caring even one ounce about your employees and customers. Stop caring so much about shareholders, they will be happy if your customers are happy. Fire the board, president, and everyone at the top and hire someone with a brain. Maybe someone from Chic-fil-A. Probably the lowest paid person at Chic-fil-A or In-N-Out could run this company better.
