I have been working at Chrysler full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Wide variety of experience in automotive engineering and many great people.

    Cons

Must be a member of the "buddy club" to see career advancement. Many promotions based on personal development rather than the most qualified and knowledgeable person for that particular position.

I have been working at Chrysler as a contractor for more than 3 years

    Pros

Loved the freedom to experiment in design. I was exposed to many different facets of auto development, testing, and production.

    Cons

Hated the backstabbing and poor employee management. While learning the different facets, I was penalized at review time for not knowing them already. Although I had one of the most trouble-free designs in the group, this was not acknowledged, which destroyed my morale here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train your supervisors in how to treat people. Your ethics training is spot on, but your managers fail miserably in its application.

I have been working at Chrysler as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Great team of interns. Most employees were willing to help interns learn the ropes.

    Cons

Corporate politics. Some full time employees didn't appreciate having interns around. Also engineers got to take cars for the weekend and Supply Chain interns did not.

Former Employee - Materials Area Supervisor in Trenton, MI

I worked at Chrysler as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

I would work there because there's a great opportunity for promotion and the salary is great. The training is relatively thorough and you'll receive support.

    Cons

It's sometimes hard to get things done in the beaurocratic environment. It's a very large facility with a lot of moving parts and it can be difficult.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would recommend focusing on adding resources to making job completion easier.

I worked at Chrysler full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Friendly and hardworking employee. Better products and company prospect.

    Cons

Always hesitant to take the initiative or lead an effort because "Fiat has not started the initiative"

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take on the initiative. Fiat may be looking at Chrysler to take the lead.

    I worked at Chrysler

    Pros

A lot of opportunities, people are kind and cooperative, and a lot of experience if you find a good department with good management

    Cons

A lot of changes, which makes it hard to understand the main goals and working with new management sometime is confusing

Current Employee - Warehouse Worker in Beaverton, OR

I have been working at Chrysler full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The pay is decent, union job. Warehouse worker starts at 15.76 hr. Employees start as part time workers working monday and Friday and or starting as full time summer relief (May to Aug). Afterward you may get asked to come on fulltime which has good benefits and 1.00 raise every year for 5 years.

    Cons

Lots of overtime, which is great it you want the hours but sometimes can be excessive. After the Chrysler's bankrupcy in 2008 new hire's fall under tier 2 group and pay raise tops off at 21.00 hr after 5 years, unlike older employees which make up to 30.00 hr.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Moral could be improved.

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee in Auburn Hills, MI

I have been working at Chrysler full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Relaxed environment most of the time, some of the best co-workers I've ever had. Good relationship with immediate supervisor. Work is interesting and challenging. Union protection.

    Cons

Wages are just okay. It seems to be that the only way to get a pay increase is to wait it out and put your time in. Too much confusion on practices and policies. Mid and upper level management quickly lose sight of what it takes to do the jobs of those they manage.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give merit-based wage increases to the hard-working and highly skilled employees who care about the future of the company. Realize that inspiration must come from the top on down, and weed out the employees that become a cancer to the work environment.
