Pros – *Laid Back - Mostly people are not aggressive and its' not cut-throat environment
*Benefits - PTO, profit sharing, medical, pension, and etcs
Cons – *Very Political - You have to be on your toes all the time if what you say and who you are talking to
*Promotion is about who you know vs. what you know
Advice to Senior Management – *IT infrastructure is terrible.. They outsource everything using computers that are old.. They finally updated some but in terms of IT and technology I think they act like they are ahead of the curve but still using windows XP, Internet explorer, and etc..

Pros – qualtity work life and working environment, working with highly competent people, the location is ideal, strong program managent culture and approach,
Cons – The company is going through a changing culture where positions are being eliminated and new ones created. this is creating an enormous amount of anxiety thus impacting employee performance.
Advice to Senior Management – As the company undergoes process improvement and cultural changes it should implement a mechanism to assure solid performing employee's that their jobs are safe.

Pros – Chubb is a great place to work because all the people are very nice and helpful. Management is very understanding and it is not a ridiculously stressful environment to work in. Also, in this marketplace, Chubb is a very reliable company and you will have job security.
Cons – In general, Chubb pays less than most other insurance companies.
Advice to Senior Management – None at this time.

Pros – From a customer's standpoint it is a great insurance company - the customer comes first, if any doubt - their loss is covered. The benefit is always given to the insured. The benefits are very good; and depending on what office you work in - work/life balance is supported.
Cons – Because it is a good company to work for - people tend not to leave and that limits the opportunities for advancement. There are broad differences in working for the company depending on what department and/or what office you work in. Senior Management/Home Office needs to do a much better job at communicating in general and at communicating a vision for the company.
Advice to Senior Management – They need to communicate early, more often and better. The gossip grapevine (and just regular individual worry) does more damage than just coming out and communicating to people what is going on.
Also need to communicate their sense of vision - there isn't enough (or any) leadership vision from the Senior Management.
Senior Management needs to reach down to the lower ranks for feedback - especially on what needs to be changed/improvement - and they cannot be any retribution if that feedback is negative (there is a sense among the middle-management and staff that any criticism - even constructive - will mean that not only won't you get promoted, but you will be at risk of losing your job. But reaching down isn't just for the feedback - when new ideas, projects or change is necessary (even something as basic as changing a workflow), Snr Mgmt tends not to include the people who are actually involved in that aspect of the business -- consequently, the change usually doesn't achieve the desired goal because the people with the knowledge to get it done are not included in the development process.

Pros – Stability. Chubb is a very stabile boring company. With the economy the way it is now that is really something that makes you feel good about the place.
Cons – Chubb is very conservative and sometimes misses the boat due to the old style of thinking. The culture at Chubb is very strong and somewhat unwilling to change. The business customers as well as IT management take a "It's good enough" attitude towards processes and work flows, as opposed to thinking "How can we make this better?" Many of the employees at Chubb have been working there for more then 15 years so as a result they often view change as an evil thing.
Advice to Senior Management – Be visionary, stop thinking about what you've done and start thinking about how to be successful going forward.
