    I Love Chubb!

Claim Svc Ctr Examiner II (Current Employee) Simsbury, CT

ProsGreat work environment, fosters collaboration, challenges you to think critically, and develops a useful subject matter expertise in a truly unique line of business. I feel that I am able to contribute from the minute I walk in the door to when I leave.

ConsStandard to that of any bureaucratic organization, sometimes chain of command issues can be difficult to navigate. Otherwise, nothing of note.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep making this a great place to work!

Chubb is an excellent place to work

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsChubb is a great place to start your career. The company provides many learning opportunities and wants its employees to succeed. Management is very knowledgable and easy to access.

ConsThe only con is that compensation remains fairly average as compared to the rest of the industry. Chubb does attempt to make up for this shortcoming through profit sharing programs and year end bonuses.

    Exceptional insurance carrier, great employer

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsOpen postings for opportunities, strong compensation.

ConsRelocation benefits have decreased making opportunities limited to local geography. Flattened organization does put stress on employees at times.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to invest in young talent but find ways to reward the many experienced staff.

    Great company and work environment

    Underwriter Trainee (Current Employee)

Pros-Being trained at Chubb to be an underwriter is great on a resume.
-Work-life balance is fantastic and management is very flexible.
-Senior management have proven to be great mentors. They want you to succeed.
-At this point in my career, I feel there's room for advancement, which helps motivate me.
    -Great benefits
-Friendly and supportive coworkers. I enjoy coming to work each day.

Cons-I wish the pay was a little higher, but doesn't everyone?
    -The technology isn't great.
-Colleagues feel it takes a long time to get promoted.
-A clearer path to a promotion is what many want.

Advice to Senior ManagementSince Finnegan took over in 2002, he has consolidated the company and "trimmed the fat" off the company. It's much more cost-conscious now than it once was. That's great for shareholders but not as great for employees. More money could be spent on technological improvements instead of buying back shares (i.e. $1.5 billion spent in January 2014). Also, the elimination of many leadership positions means that there are fewer spots for younger employees to move into. That being said, the insurance industry being one that has a higher average age than say finance, impending retirements in the next ten years or so will allow for more advancement down the line.

My advice: Recognize employees who perform well with promotions and raises so talent stays here.

My experience at Chubb Insurance was educational. Learning aspects of insurance practices.

Chubb Underwriting Associate (Former Employee) Whitehouse Station, NJ

ProsThe best reason to work at Chubb is that they appreciate their employees which in turn gives better quality of work performed. They are a company for their employees.

ConsThe only con that I have was the distance they were from where I lived.

Advice to Senior ManagementI don't have a lot of advice to Management as the managers I worked with were very professional, knowledgeable and great assets to the company. I would love to go back to Chubb Insurance as an employee.

    Team Lead

    Team Lead (Current Employee)

ProsGreat benefits, friendly co-workers, good pay, nice office, off on weekends and major holidays, nice to have alot of PTO days.

ConsA couple of the managers seem stuck up. And some seem really fake to me. Christmas parties need improvement.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore friendly managers would be nice. Nicer Christmas parties with more flexibility to have Christmas Party some where different every year would be nice.
