I worked at Church & Dwight full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good benefit package and frequent product giveaways. Also worthwhile prizes for employee competitions (distance walked, etc) and baseball ticket raffles

    Cons

Long time employees largely dissatisfied and high turnover rate. Broad handbook phrasing used for frequent suspensions. Tier advancement questions not technically accurate to trade but required for pay raise. Supplier issues caused frequent last minute rescheduling. Supply department repeatedly acquires parts by price vice quality resulting in increased maintenance and downtime on some lines

    Advice to Management

Hold suppliers accountable for bad product and set better QA standards for items acquired for production

I worked at Church & Dwight full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Colleagues were great, product giveaways were a plus. Stability for as long as it lasts. Can't recall much else right now.

    Cons

Leaders behaved like old school, all boys club. Suddenly looks like a company from 60 years ago. Weak leaders spent more time trying to justify their title and taking credit from others instead of developing or rewarding employees below them.

    Advice to Management

Start chosing your leaders with more care as changes could have a lasting impact. some hope that it can be a great company again. But not if you don't treat employees the way you want to be treated.

    Pros

Free product Give-Aways Half Day Friday's

    Cons

HR does not conduct business the same as other companies, their lack of addressing visible issues within the business units is disappointing. Exit interviews are not conducted therefore not helping the organization better themselves on problems that need to be addressed. Senior management is horrible with the R&D department, showing little to no care about who really completes the work. Horrible behaviors are accepted and praised and rewarded with promotions. Benefits and other incentives have been cut such as employee stock program. The workload is not compensated with pay, the company is very lean making each workload almost double. There is no career growth, people get promoted based on likability and exceptions to promotions are done for company favorites.

    Advice to Management

Reorganize your senior management. Care about your employees. Deep dive into culture behaviors.

    Pros

    Results focused. Access to leadership.

    Cons

No diversity in leadership and no one seems to care. Employees who are too scared to voice opinions. Cut cut cut mentality.

    Advice to Management

Don't treat employees like a budget item and brag about it. Don't sacrifice hiring talent because people don't fit in. Maybe we are the problem. You don't have to cut to save money. That's old school thinking. Be better than that.

    Pros

Company delivers at or above expectations on a consistent basis. In efforts to prevent any possible failure to achieve company goals, the executive management team call all the shots from the top and hold their teams accountable for achieving their directives.

    Cons

During the process of goal attainment, it's common to see bullying and intimidation as accepted management trates that filter from the top down. The blame is often left to smolder with the lower levels of management. The term TEAMWORK is used often, but not demonstrated with the executive team.

    Advice to Management

Help influence stock price growth north of $100 per share and then ride off into the sunset.

    Pros

Great people to work with, hourly folks anyway. Pay was OK. Benefits were OK, affordable. Clean bright building to work in.

    Cons

Don't speak your mind because you'll be over stepping. Management completely separates themselves from hourly employees. Claims to be family oriented, but it is not. Your family will have to wait. Unless your in management.

    Advice to Management

Rethink your management style. Your employees are just as good or better then your "management".

I have been working at Church & Dwight full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Never have been laid off. Pay is ok. Recently received one percent raise!? Uh yippee? How's that for appreciation ?

    Cons

Management absolutely stinks. They feel they can do no wrong. More is taken away every year. They don't care for people . Morale is at all time low, human resources does nothing to help people anymore. Cameras everywhere for "accidents". Pick who they want for promotions, ignoring more knowledgeable and qualified people. Definitely play favorites. Oh, and hardly any minorities, never has there been a female of color....ever!!

    Advice to Management

Total overhaul. Reward your people!! Recognize their hard work. Get off mount Olympus and see what your people do for you. Put human back in human resources. Spend some money and bring the plant into the nineties. Do the exact opposite of the cons column!

I worked at Church & Dwight full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Strong financials and some equitable brands. Effective with Investors.

    Cons

As mentioned several times here on Glassdoor and it is fact - senior management is demotivating, disrespectful and ineffective, therefore many scapegoats are regularly selected, based on rather they like you or not, to place blame. In the meantime, the culture is a big watch-out. Upper Management pushes everything (accountability, decisions, etc…"you're the CEO" but you cannot really make the important decisions) down and assumes no accountability but places blame on underlings consistently and regularly.

    Advice to Management

Ask your teams how you can be more effective and improve the culture/morale. Learn to Lead and Serve Effectively instead of Managing by Threats and Bully Tactics. When senior management learns to lead, serve and develop effectively and finally assumes accountability and responsibility for the culture, results will improve and high turnover will slow.

I have been working at Church & Dwight full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

overall the company is constantly growing.

    Cons

Work load can be overwhelming. The company is constantly adding acquisitions but doesn't hire any additional employees to cover the work. Instead they put it on the current employees and expect them to cover the work. Senior management is ancient. Incompetent Managers that have been in the same position for over 10yrs, some from when they were still Carter Wallace, who are not concerned with developing their employees but rather pointing a finger and expecting immediate results.

    Advice to Management

Help foster an environment where lower level employees can learn and grow.
