    Pros

You can meet good people, as well as jerks, while working on assignment for Ciber.

    Cons

Management by bullying seems to be the common approach. The company is cheap. Working hours are inflexible. Scheduling of project is only theoretical, not practiced. As a result, developers have to work every weekend.

    Advice to Management

Value your team members--show it, say it, and stand up for them. Ensure that people that are put into management positions have advanced skills in communicating and team building. Build up your people's team spirit, don't cut them down. Create a culture of mutual support, not criticism.

    Pros

Lots of opportunity to see a variety of project types, industries and client environments.
Great online (CBT) training through skillport.

    Cons

Continual reorgs, cutting staff, deciding what services are going to be offered, and struggling to meet revenue and expense targets.
Bonuses are promised but rarely delivered.

    Advice to Management

Pick a set of services and stick to them. Stop hunting for that next big opportunity. You don't need to hit a home run. Stop bringing in expensive consultants and paying them money we don't have. Focus on the basics that allows any consulting firm to succeed.

    Pros

None unfortunately. Bad experience at company.

    Cons

Bad project managers. Colleagues were very unhappy on project.

    Advice to Management

Hire managers/directors that know what they are doing.

I worked at Ciber full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good teammates that do their best in with Cibers typical no loyalty corporate mentality.

    Cons

No loyalty at all. Worked six months. Never given anything but praise. Spoke to manager maybe twice. They preach good game but do not stand behind their employees at all. The minute you go on the bench or they decide to replace you with an off-shore resource they will.

I got a call on a Friday from a very cold as ice VP who said, Today is your last day. I could not get another word out of her mouth. I was very insulted. If you work for Ciber, don't stop looking for a job because when the rush is over, your gone.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with some respect. Your going to run out of resources to use and abuse. I have had a couple people who have been made offers by Ciber if I thought it was a good place to work. I told them only if they want to get worked to death the made to feel like a total loser when they get laid off. What goes around comes around.

    Pros

Fairly easy interview process and decent salary

    Cons

No accountability of Roles and responsibilities; No support from Management; Awful Project Managers on project sites that always miss milestones and deliverable dates. Need to adapt Industry standards so they can compete.

    Advice to Management

Get some leadership training and learn to implement Best Practices so you can be competitive in the market. You have no credibility.

Good for Vice Presidents/senior Vice Presidents but bad for consultants that do work.

    Pros

It's a job that does have good people below VP level. Consultants really strive to do well. Consultants care about quality.

    Cons

All year we're told about the reward associated with bonus (EAP). The North America factor is the biggest and worst. It not only took a significant hit to supplement Europe but an individual has little to no impact on this number. Practice factor was strong and although project I managed was strong, was told that the individual factor was best that could be done. More insulting was the HR letter accompanying the comp statement stating "pay for performance " propaganda. The CEO stated a change and communication on progress with no follow through.

    Advice to Management

Actions need to match the words. Don't talk about a recovery plan with millions budgeted, screw the consultants in bonus, tell us there's no raises and continue to increase executive headcount with published stock equity equal to years of my salary.

    Pros

Some recruiters are allowed to work remotely

    Cons

Pay is not very competitive, attaining goals is very much dependent upon the work assigned to you (which you have no control over ). Company does not know when to walk away from bad business. Benefits look good on the surface but are really not very competitive

    Advice to Management

Management needs to assign work based off of employees strengths and experience rather than just randomly .

    Pros

The client. The assignment was interesting, challenging, dynamic and rewarding.

    Cons

    No support from corporate.
You are dropped at the client site and forgotten, at least until it is time for someone to check one of the boxes necessary to help them build their resume.
A lot of 'lip service' about 'consultant care' but no action.
No support for the people in the field who are actually billing - ergo paying the salaries of all these other people.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating the billable consultants like they are there to serve you. Remember who is doing the delivery. Remember the customer is always right and that they have many options to meet their needs.

    Cons

The managers and project managers have no consistency for processes and how they want their support team to execute a project. Ensure those interviewing candidates ask the questions appropriate to the position they are hiring for
