From a very good company to a very poor one

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThere remain lots of good people who care about their work and their clients.

ConsA deterioration of commitment to employees and clients. The sole focus is shareholders. But with only one leg of the stool, it is tipping over.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe CEO stated that he sees employees as "tools". He pushed a culture of them vs. us (execs vs. everyone else). He brought in new leadership that had the same lack of compassion and human decency. How do you advise those who have no conscience?

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Very Poor Management

    Senior PM (Former Employee)

ProsI do not see any pros to working here

    ConsSalary freeze
    Lack of management
    Benefits were poor

Advice to Senior ManagementBetter management and stop salary freeze to retain employees

Account Manager (Former Employee) Denver, CO

ProsGreat industry, some really great people. It could be a great place to work, if politics were not the Soup DeJour!

ConsVery poor management - hostile and condescending right from the start. I was truly sadden by the cruel and unprofessional behavior of the managers. Training was none existent and expectations not well outlined, They claimed they had an "open door", but retribution was absolute. Run away from any contact with this company.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat people with respect and work on training. You are running a professional business not a high school. When I was hired I was told that Ciber had very little attrition, that was a lie, If you expect potential employees to be truthful you should be as well. I would not this company!

    Bait and Switch

    Consultant (Current Employee) Seattle, WA

ProsCommute. The distance to the client site is manageable.

ConsLack of response from the delivery management team. HR forgot what the H represents. Too many layers between those who are doing the work and those who are making the decisions.

Advice to Senior ManagementHonesty is always the best policy. It isn't the people at corporate or the branch offices that are contributing to the bottom line, it is those people who are onsite doing the day-to-day delivery who should be rewarded. Insist that management treat every resource with respect. Respect your employees, rather than ignoring them and hoping they will go away.

Overall review - IT Technical support

Technical Specialist (Current Employee) North East, PA

ProsCompany provides some benefits such as health, and a 401k plan that is ok.

ConsOverall I could'nt recommend due to lack of employee support from lower management.

Advice to Senior ManagementEmployee support is a must to make clients happy. This is management 101 that you have failed.

    Just another IT-pro body shop

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Andover, MA

ProsThey pay a decent salary when they have work for you. As a full-time employee you get decent benefits. Company is trying to get project work vs. provide-bodies-in-chairs work.

ConsThey have absolutely no loyalty to employees: so long as they have work for you, all is well; as your assignment comes to an end, you scramble to find a new assignment, else you'll be in the unemployment line. There is no sense of culture or camaraderie.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe honest with prospective employees about career potential (virtually none) and job security (virtually none). Be either a body shop or a project shop and be good at that, rather than trying to do both and doing both poorly.

The company that could have been great

Principal Architect (Current Employee) Nashua, NH

Pros-10 years of service, the company has already paid me ontime everytime
-PTO is a good amount but everything has changed since new CEO
    -Holidays
    -401k is decent
-Used to have good co-workers but many internal employees are very rude, negative, and just plain mean and nasty

Cons-CEO is a complete liar and scam artist to the board
-Senior management lies to get more contracts and money then screws employees over for any bonus
-Benefits have been scaled back, PTO is scaled back to almost nothing for new employees
-Disorganized, to many systems, money wasted in areas that don't matter to the people who actually bring in the money which is the consultants who make clients happy.
-No career path or growth, no way to help internally as employees are very incompetent and do not want help from anyone who is smart or knowledgeable.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop lieing, stop wasting money in the wrong areas, pay the people their bonuses that worked hard to get clients and make them happy, pay attention to Consultants they are the front line and make the bottom line grow and stay steady. Stop ignoring Consultants, start paying proper salaries and make actual career paths for everyone.

Sadly, they are not organized, and their business model does not work for the type of work they are trying to do.

Technical Writer (Current Employee) Kirkland, WA

ProsThe people! In an environment that serves Microsoft and T-Mobile, where much of the work force is contingent staff, some amazing, smart, versatile people have worked at these companies through Ciber.

ConsCiber does not seem to know how to keep business coming in any longer, and so discards many of the brilliant people who do consulting work at MIcrosoft for them.

Advice to Senior ManagementLook at the whole chess board, and recognize that your current business model of silos for all the practices does not work for you. Go back to the branch model, and you will find much success and will improve the overall work force in our area.

It's all about the bottom line with Ciber and not about their employees.

    Principal Consultant (Former Employee)

ProsThe on-boarding process was a very smooth process and provided you all of the tools, access and information needed to get started.

ConsWork life balance, work through lunch, dinner meetings, almost no time for your family even when at home due to conference calls, weekend work etc.

Advice to Senior ManagementHave concern for your people as well as your bottom line. The more that you take care of them, they will take care of you. Remember they your consultants work hard but, also have families and friends they would like to enjoy too.

Body Shop - they will use you and lose you when done....

    Consultant (Current Employee)

ProsThey offer Benefits, and are great a lip service.

ConsGlorified Recruiters; they make no products, hence they have little intrinsic value

Advice to Senior ManagementMake Careers, Not Jobs; pr.obably why your stock is less than $4

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
