    Pros

Company values like this are hard to find in this day and age. Salary and benefits are very good. Nice people to work with and are very helpful with work and life issues. They have good communication with the client (BCBSNC)

    Cons

Expand the company to other clients in NC; not just BCBSNC.

    Advice to Management

Need on-site account managers to be more attentive to contractor's issues or needs.

    Pros

Flexibility in contracts, generous promotions for those that work for it. Corporate support for individual employee's personal development.

    Cons

Health insurance rates are not as competitive as you would think for the size of the company. There are cons to being a contractor but have little to do with cons at Ciber.

    Advice to Management

Continue to invest in your top talent.

    Pros

They are a very professional organization and work hard at providing excellent service.

    Cons

As a contractor, it seems like there are limited opportunities for staying a Project Manager. The pipeline of opportunities seems to be limited because they are focused on application development specifically in a couple of narrow areas.

    Advice to Management

Figure out how to use your field assignment contractors can be kept busy.

    Pros

Great people, boatloads of work in the pipeline, relaxed dress code, flex time & work-life balance, good equipment to work on, nice facilities, bench for full-timers.

    Cons

Salary is 5k less than what I would like, but the bench is a fair trade. In other cases, I would just be unemployed between projects.

    Advice to Management

You should do quarterly reviews & bonuses instead of annual ones.

    Pros

Benefits are good. Work life balance is great. Challenging and fulfilling work that is value added to the bottom line.

    Cons

There are challenges with trying to meet what the sales team has promised to the client. Leadership can seem to be unfocused at times.

    Advice to Management

It would be helpful to know that the people responsible for the back office support are appreciated.

    Pros

Good employer; highly respected by government client; brought key individuals onto contract; attempted to maintain a corporate culture in a distributed contracting environment.

    Cons

    Pros

Co-workers were great to work with, many people in the company really want it to be successful

    Cons

Leadership constantly decides to sell new services before really putting any manpower into the existing practices to actually support what is already being sold. This prevents existing practices from being able to respond to proposals in a timely manner, and has the consultants working in these practices stretched so thin that new projects won almost always call for recruiters to hire new consultants. It does not look good to clients when the consultant's first day on the job with Ciber is the first day working on the client's project. Recruiters constantly struggle to support the sales team and are pulled off existing opportunities that they are working for the sales team to go help one of the national accounts, thus leaving account executives with positions needing to be filled that nobody is working.

    Advice to Management

Ciber needs to decide on 3 to 5 things they are really good at doing, and cut out all other service offerings. You can't offer the same number of services as an IBM because you don't have the manpower they do to support those service offerings. Specialize and get very good at something and stay focused on just that.....like Infor. Infor (formerly Lawson) is a great service offering for Ciber that is highly successful.
