Good high school/college job. Experience depends largely on attitude of the GM/senior managers.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Cinemark

ProsFree movies (not on weekends or holidays, can only bring 1 guest), free popcorn/drink on breaks, flexible in some respects.

ConsNo benefits, pretty low pay, never have weekends off, often have to work late. Typical theater job.

Advice to Senior ManagementOffice culture is largely based on friendships. This tends to reduce professionalism and promote favoritism. Policies need to be enforced, or canceled. Many "policies" were systematically violated. Also, a more positive work environment would be helpful. And better pay.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

It was ok

Utility (Former Employee)
Napa, CA

I worked at Cinemark full-time for less than a year

ProsFree movies were great but the venue I worked at was pretty horrible. It has recently been moved to a new location and this has changed it to an even greater experience. Free movies are one of the only things I liked about this job.

ConsManagement often times was hard to get along with. The pay wasn't competitive and it wasn't very much. When it's busy it makes it seem like the pay isn't worth it.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe more positive about the work that is required. Don't act like the people who work under you are worthless, treat them with respect.

Good place to work

Box Office Cashier (Former Employee)
Grapevine, TX

I worked at Cinemark part-time for more than a year

ProsA good thing about working on the floor here is that there are many jobs to do- ushering, working the concession stand, or working in the box office. The variety makes you less bored.

ConsThe cons about working here are that you start at minimum wage, and the raises are only small amounts of cents.

Advice to Senior ManagementUpper management should be less hypocritical and also work with you, instead of watch you work.

Usher/Concessesions/Box Office (Former Employee)
Davenport, IA

I worked at Cinemark part-time for more than a year

Pros-free movies
-free concessions
-50% off everything else
-job is incredibly easy
-fun to work with a large staff

Cons-childish managers who are unprofessional

Working at a Cinemark theatre has had its ups and downs but overall it is a good experience.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Cinemark part-time for more than 3 years

ProsFlexible. Willing to work with you if you're a student. Free movies(twice a week) and 50% discount on concessions(during break). Good place to meet nice people and make friends. Overall an okay first job.

ConsMost are tolerable but there are plenty of rude and unreasonable customers. Very often there is an overly relaxed atmosphere that leads to a few employees slacking without consequences. Pay raises rarely come. Must be able to holidays.

Advice to Senior ManagementOverall the assistant managers do their job well but they could be tougher on older employees that slack and set bad examples for newer ones.

Decent First Job

Usher/Concessionist (Current Employee)

I have been working at Cinemark part-time for more than 3 years

ProsFlexible hours for high school/full-time college students, Free movie tickets, Easy experience for first-time employees

ConsBare bones hours during the off-season, Strenuous work for such short shifts, Difficult customers, even by retail standards, Flawed employee complaint submission/investigation system

Advice to Senior ManagementImprove employee complaint/investigation system so that morally questionable claims do not result in the termination of good employees, find more opportunities for hours for employees that want them

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
