I have been working at Cintas full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Stability, you have to be a real screw up to get fired.

    Cons

Where to begin, the boys club mentality for starters. No chance to move up unless you are a total suck up. Nonexistint raises, no team work, and goals they set just high enough to be out of reach.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start to care about employees again instead of just useless talk.

    I worked at Cintas

    Pros

You get a lot of front line experience and can definitely relate to your employees, because you've literally walked a mile in their shoes. If you are a favorite of upper management, you will go far, as they tend to promote their proteges. As long as you are willing to work tireless hours, for zero thanks, it's a great company to work for. They are definitely an equal opportunity employer. Unless you are white, and then they'll have to hire a minority to make their quota, even if you were the best candidate.

    Cons

You will never see your family. If you are a male in management, you better make sure your spouse wants to stay home and take care of everything around the house, because you won't be there to do it. And if you're a female, don't even bother getting married or having kids. You won't see them. You can expect early mornings and late evenings and Saturdays. If you aren't part of the "chosen" you won't get promoted, even if you work your tail off. Also "thank you" is not a word in their vocabulary. Expect to give it your all and only get a "what are you going to do next." It's mental and emotional abuse at it's finest. Like a bad boyfriend that you keep going back to.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate your A players, because with a good economy, they will all leave you once a better opportunity for more money and better work/life balance comes along (and believe me, there are plenty). A small act of kindness, like a simple "Thank You" really goes a long way.

Former Employee - SSR in Normal, IL
Former Employee - SSR in Normal, IL

    I worked at Cintas

    Pros

On going learning of new products. 4 day work week, weekends off,

    Cons

Low compensation, monthly bonus is based on 5 or less expired contracts. If a contract expires within 1 year its counted against the SSR for the monthly bonus. Who really signs a contract before it expires unless you're looking to change something drastically on the account. Makes no sense. Disincentive for growing your route as an SSR. You get paid 3% per $10,000 and then only .5% more for every $1000 you add on. This is not how someone grows the route. Idea is to sell more out of the catalog but the pricing of the catalog is outrageous. In an era of internet pricing this is crazy. Constant meetings over unnecessary materials and only management speaks. If they paid better this would be an ok company to work for. Winters can be hard and long. Going in and out of a business. Work is hard and back breaking if you're there too long.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your SSRs at the 5am meetings. Incentivize your SSRs with fair compensation. SSR supervisors should not be afraid to talk to an unhappy customer

I worked at Cintas full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    None ..nothing, nada, zilch, RUN

    Cons

I am so glad to be gone from this hell hole. They should call their employees prisoners not partners. This is the most degrading job I have ever had. The salaried people and the route drivers won't see it this way necessarily because they are considered the bread and butter of this company. The Distribution center, customer service and poor order fulfillment is the pits. They micro manage everything. If you have to use the restrooms outside of your two breaks and lunch, its a problem. If you talk ...moreso in order fulfillment, its a problem. If you get up and talk, upper management will walk around to see what you are doing, to try to intimidate you from socializing. Their systems don't work, their workflow process don't work. Nothing works. So many mangers and what for? None of them are educated, smart, logical or classy. They treat their employees like indentured servants. They expect you to bend over backwards for them and they change your schedule at a moment notice, cut your hours, then expect you to sign up for over time later. Management walks around and ask you "Isn't this company amazing"? Like you should be happy to be working here, and being treated like this. I heard management say, she doesn't care about those who left or who are leaving because they are meeting their numbers regardless. What type of management says that openly in the middle of the call center, so employees can hear? The employees who have been there the longest, are tired of this place and no there is no advancement, but they feel their is no hope, they don't think there is anything better. They are fearful of not having a job so the conform to this communism work life. If you are a new hire, they will not tell you that training is very little and not comprehensive. They will not tell you, you won't get vacation for a year and then its only five days. No personal time. There is no work life balance here. Also, this company is a multi billion dollar company; but they don't give a 401K match?? What??? They have this KPI system that they live by, but no one can explain how it really works. that's because the manager that introduced this system, resigned. This place is a horrible place for anyone but it is really horrible to minorities, minorities not just saying African Americans, Polish, Hispanic etc. and they knowingly treat people unfair. I am so glad to be gone. It was the worst job I've ever had ....If you are interviewing for order fulfillment, or customer service run your butt off!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your managers need to check out a Fred Pryor seminar on how to manage people. See if you can get a buy one get one their and take up a seminar on professionalism wihy you are there.

    Pros

I have none it is the worse place to work

    Cons

Managers and supervisors treat you like your just a nobody! It's like being in a preschool not allowed to talk or use bathroom when you need too. No promotions within the company they will not promote even if you been with company for decades . Really bad wage increases if your lucky you get 5 cents a year. Very short breaks so short that supervisors with a buzzer just like preschool when recess is over! They hate training people especially if your NEW...so good luck. Also don't be smart and don't have a voice or you will get fired. It's a company secret when they fire you it will be a unexpected surprise with false info to corporate. Beware everything in this company is a secret!!!!! Don't talk or you will get mistreated

Current Employee - Facility Services Sales Representative in Denver, CO

I have been working at Cintas full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

-Most of the people (managers, co-workers, etc.) are great people.
    -Decent work-life balance.

    Cons

-Expected to perform duties at a high rate of efficiency and excellence with little support and poor equipment.
-Training is very abbreviated in many or even non-existent, which can make job duties hard to perform.
-Trucks, equipment, etc. is very old or doesn't work.
-High turn-over within company so very little consistency day-to-day (which leads to little vision for the future).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Pay your good people more in order to retain a more consistent culture. It's hard to want to stick around when all the best people are leaving for places where they are valued more for their work.
-Invest more in equipment, trucks, etc.
