I worked at Circuit City full-time

    Pros

On the brighter side, Circuit provided a generally "hands-off" approach to employee management. Very little clock watching, except where deadlines were concerned...and understandably so. Generally good people. Generally good pay.

    Cons

Many of the company quirks were as novel as the founder's last name. Managers memorized rote definitions of processes and work breakdown structures, but could not adequately explain the "why" underlying key and critical concepts. Projects predating your arrival were handed to you with flaws and all and pegged to your "performance account" if you did not make it work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper Management needed to listen more beyond the layer of middle managers. Middle management did nothing more than to adjust what is already provided. No explanations for unique processes and KPIs, and KPMs.

    Grating retail job

    I worked at Circuit City

    Pros

The people I worked with were fun and friendly. The job wasn't so bad during slow hours. During the bankruptcy sale, we could stand up for ourselves against irate and irrational customers, so that was a plus.

    Cons

Bad sales manager that had unrealistic expectations. We were forced to push the Circuit City credit card on people, which I never felt right about doing. The customers were horrendous- especially turing the bankruptcy sale. Also, the company has gone under. That's a pretty big con.

    Cons

    -Complete lack of training.
-Managers were incompetent and greedy, unlike the underpaid supervisors.
    -No ladder to climb.
    -Terribly outdated registers.
    -Awful up-selling tactics.
-The company went bankrupt and I lost my crappy job.

    Pros

Made some good friends and had fun working on cars. I loved the actual work part for my position skillset.

    Cons

Retail so of course even though I was a car electronics installer, they would try to squeeze me to help other departments with sales even though my own numbers were top notch.

I worked at Circuit City full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Easy job, good hours, some unique characters. A learning experience

    Cons

Ah my 4 months at circuit city. I was hired to be the team lead of the Product Flow Team. Basically it was an assistant inventory/stocking/warehouse manager. My direct boss was not too bright. He interviewed me 3 times. Each time he asked the same exact questions. On the 3rd time I finally just looked at him and said "are you going to hire me or not?". The pay was abysmal. It was 7 bucks an hour. I had a team of two 18 year old stoners who I had to make sure put out the inventory at night, shipped back damaged goods, and redid sales tags. I just made sure they did it and surfed the internet in the warehouse. Employees and customers stole like it was going out of style. The car stereo guys were all ex cons and rude. It was a bizarre place to work. I got a real job after only 4 months and CC went out of business 5 months later. Wonder why?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Isn't going to help them now anyway.
