    Pros

Work from Home based on project & your relationship with immediate boss.

    Cons

    Too much politics in India,
Some managers are egoistic & unfit for there role.
    Frequent layoffs
    Old projects with low learnings
No respect to employees esp from managers (Project dependent)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Clear up office politics
Have 360 Degree feedback & act on the PULSE survey results

I worked at Cisco Systems India full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good work from home facility for someone who need it. Some products are good

    Cons

Most of the products are out dated and people waste so much time on innovation and hardly do anything new. No vision in leadership and management is bad. Reorg happens once in every year and your management keeps changing. New management give special treatment to their old teams and when you sense that it is better to leave that place

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

All this while you are managing by acquiring new companies, I dont think even that will work going ahead

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Cisco Systems India full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I've worked on good technology and few products are good.

    Cons

Middle management is very biased. there are very frequent reorgs like once in 6 months and if your new management is not same as your old one then they will wait for a chance to cut down the size of the teams which dont belong to them. The management dont have any idea of the actual work the engineers do. If some engineer make some noise by one tech talk they feel he or she is the best engineer

Cisco India also pays so pathetically low money

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook

I worked at Cisco Systems India

    Pros

Work environment is very good. Flexible work practice is also a plus

    Cons

These comments are about current CRBU(core routing) which is headed by managers who were previously in optical BU
Very heavy workload- will be forced to work on weekends(wil have to work from office) without any travel arrangements provided by company
Untolerable politics- there will not be any recognition based on performance. They will make us work like donkeys and in the end will give a feedback that work is not satisfactory.
They will offer high CTCs when you join; but it will be a constant for 3-4 years and the work keeps on increasing day by day
Most of the managers are technical guys who dont know how to manage people

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Guys
Employees are not your slaves. Treat them properly

I worked at Cisco Systems India

    Pros

    - Brand name
    - Well matured cisco internal tools
    - Transfer with in organization

    Cons

The below are about Chennai Cisco based on my experience

    - Its not cisco, this division was previously known as Scientific Atlanta and they still follow the old work culture. If you expect Cisco work culture and join here, you will be highly disappointed. I joined here because of brand name. But later disappointed. Work culture is similar to service company, you will never feel you are working for CISCO.
    - No work from home, No laptop(No laptop for engineers, but admin and finance have). Some team provide both. But not all.
    - No recognition, during the appraisal they only concentrate on old employees. Lots of politics
    - If you from a good company this place will not suite you, People from small company might like this place

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Please respect new joinees

I have been working at Cisco Systems India

    Pros

    Good Campus
Labor company which doesn't ask you to work for so many hours a week.
    Better professional slave job

    Cons

Useless Process for everything even if you have to ****
Almost all the products are from acquistions and no innovation
Management decision is static irrespective of employees feedback or concerns
Begging is better than getting hikes.
Forget about promotions for some years in lifetime if you wish to stay long.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better join political parties which suits you more.

I have been working at Cisco Systems India

    Pros

Manage work & office. Work is very flexible.

    Cons

Cisco is listed as the 2nd most worst performing stock in NASDAQ. So no questions of asking for stock .. Peanuts are given instead of salary for employees below G10. Only top management are well fed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Divert attention from top management to employees of lower grade. Provide them good benefits in terms of salary. Implement a bottom up approach of employees rating their managers.

I have been working at Cisco Systems India

    Pros

    1. Work Culture is ok. You have something called as work from home option so that you can work from any part of country
    2. Great campus
    3. Great food court in campus :)
    4. Good facilities like online access to Safari, Wi-fi network in entrie campus ( you can work from food court also), gymnasium, tennis court, basketball court, cricket pitch, volleyball court

    Cons

    1. I am with Cisco from past 3 years. Believe me there has been not even a single Indian Rupee hike. People might be talented here, but their attitude towards others is very bad especially seniors.
    2. Everyone pretends to be Champion across all platform and technologies, but most of them know nothing. Most of the people here in India are very rude.
    3. Working from home is good option, but on the other hand its painful coz you are expected to work in US West Coast Timings and attend late night meetings
    4. Too much work pressure for very little salary
    5. Even though all the sports and gym facility is present, work pressure is so much that you never get time to visit any of these sport facility any time
    6. When it comes to money, Cisco is really bad as they never give good hikes as compared to other companies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Please care about your current employees who work day in and out 365 days
    2. Personal recognition should be given for all employees.
    3. As Managers have system to review Engineers, there should be a system where Engineers can give feedback about their managers

I have been working at Cisco Systems India

    Pros

Cisco ,the old brand name adds some value to job profile.
Learn new technologies by chance of any new acquisitions since most new technologies and good selling prodcuts are acquired by cisco.
Learn how to make things more complex.
Having fun around compromising your work experience

    Cons

Ridiculous manangement that have a philososphy of working to add an entry in performance review and not for the necessity.
All happens in the name of process and no wonder if it doesnt happen at all :-D
You can think about promotions in dream, oppurtunities in words.
Full politics and no recognition for deserving candidates.
Almost worst outsourced services like HR ,Work place resources, etc for employees.
All happens in the name of process and no wonder if it doesnt happen at all :-D
To say it simple, you can be recognised as a fool if you stay long.
If more than that if you wish to take a chance then its your fate!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Changing the way you think ! Changing the way you fool (employees and customers).Changing the way you manage! And not changing others for you.
