    Pros

Ability to work from home, paired with challenging and rewarding work. Great teams doing amazing work, with significant focus on emerging technologies.

    Cons

Difficult to advance. Easy to get lost in the shuffles. Ongoing layoffs. Losing talent rapidly. Review process is nebulous at best.

    Advice to Management

Layoffs are not the answer to the problems you are facing. Losing talent, or driving it away, is impairing your ability to function.

    Pros

Great pay and benefits, ESPP, annual bonus up to 6% of salary, and in many cases you can work remotely from home.

    Cons

Poor leadership. People put into leadership positions based on their personal accomplishments and not based on the ability to lead. Too many reorganizations and getting laid off.

    Pros

Benefits are great. The sIze of the company encourages & enables role changes. Remote work, working from home are supported.

    Cons

Several years of heavy layoffs (10K the first year I was converted from red to blue badge, then 3000 the next, and finally 5000 last year). Employees are being overworked for less pay - this negates the work-life balance theory they "support." Excellence is no longer expected. Talent is no longer exceptional - the team I worked on had about 40 employees. At least 20 of them I know/told me they hated both the team and their roles.

    Advice to Management

Reboot and reload the entire executive mentality. Quit promoting Directors - far too many "middle-men", which cultivates an environment of delegation with no reward.

    I worked at Cisco Systems

    Pros

Access to lots of internal info, code, projects. Generally a smart group of folks.

    Cons

Limited Restructuring every year, never know who's going to get the axe. Upper mngment often did not understand the technology - hopefully this will change with new CEO and exec team.

    Advice to Management

More openness - less fiefdoms - get rid of the high school politics.

    Pros

Exposure to many of Cisco's industry-leading Data Center products.

Exposure to a fast past work environment.

Exposure to a high-stress work environment (if you can do this you can do it all).

    Cons

Cisco rarely converts or hires employees. TAC is a disposable commodity (high supply / low demand).

In TAC it is typically selective of those who are either college graduates with no work experience or extremely educated MBA graduates. (Making them affordable, in the sub 60k category)

It is difficult to be away from the job if you need personal time, however Work from Home is encouraged.

Salary expectations are average to below-average (for those with Masters and above)

    Advice to Management

Consider growth potential of the talent. Don't let enthusiastic graduates burn out fresh out of college.

    Pros

Professional group of people who uplift each other. The people are what makes it a great place to work.

    Cons

Changing business strategy disregards worker sentiment. Many express sadness on the changes being made by management, because it shows little regard for those remaining.

    Advice to Management

Change the way you treat your workforce. Although change is necessary in the modern business environment, more consideration should be made for those left behind. This may be part of the plan, who knows, but many good people will/are leaving resulting in a less than professional work force. This will impact your business. You forgot this

    Pros

Salaries are very high vs comparables. You can learn a LOT if you're willing to work AND can find part of the org that is growing. There are still pockets of very cool technology. Generally very open to remote workers. Many jobs have very flexible time schedules. There are some really really good managers here.

    Cons

They're struggling with a strategy. It's hard to get innovative projects committed in the mature parts of the business. The last couple of years have seen regular layoffs that have badly hurt morale. There are some really really bad managers here!
