    Pros

Always challenging, good benefits, on site medical and dental. Plenty of opportunities for cross theater collaboration. Plenty of work. Very diverse teams.

    Cons

After 19 years, I have watched this company go from the cool young company to an IBM type of gold ol boys running the company. Not fun anymore. Very hard to get raises, company has major layoffs and restructuring every 2 -3 years. Management not diverse enough.

    Advice to Management

When you say work life balance mean it. Schedule more fun events and do not be so cheap about it. 25 bucks a person for an event is not very much.

    Pros

Flexible hours, work from home, talent coworkers, decent pay and benefits , cutting edge technologies, lead in the areas we play.

    Cons

Bloated middle layer, sometimes political , and very hard to move up, acquisition too frequently, no one knows all the product line.

    Advice to Management

Streamline the middle, center on execution but strategies

    Pros

Great Benefits. Nice working environment. Excellent training programs. HR supports moving around to other jobs inside the company. Great Bonus programs-all employees. Tuition reimbursement. Room to grow if you're in the right group.

    Cons

Women in lower level jobs are not treated fairly. Most employees are doing two to three jobs at a time due to yearly layoffs. Yearly layoffs are nerve racking. Processes are implemented from the top down without vetting changes with lower levels--causing mass confusion for months on end.

    Advice to Management

Vet process changes with BU's before implementing. Stop using outside contractors for really important migrations. You have top talent inside your company that can do it twice as fast! Don't allow contractors to reinvent the wheel when a system works, but needs a new functionality added. You are spending millions on this. Update your processes to current day! Cross-train roles-stop the comment "it's not my job". Knowing E2E processes will improve release cycles. Stop yearly layoffs-you are losing top talent because of this!

    Pros

Flexible work Schedule, Talent of Colleagues, Corporate Culture, work environment. Drive of colleagues..

    Cons

Very tough for middle managers (managers thru directors) to reward top performers. Appalling purchasing processes! (recently outsourced to Accenture) indicates too much influence from finance organization.

    Advice to Management

The pendulum has swung away from employee & customer focus to shareholder focus in recent years. Perhaps too far. A better balance is needed, especially if fresh talent is to be attracted here.

    Pros

Good training ground for new hires. It has many technical and non technical courses offered on campus for employees. Since Cisco has been a leader in the industry, it has many products lines and relatively more internal opportunities if you want to take advantages of it.

    Cons

Like many other big companies, it has reached the point that constant changing is happening, struggling to hold on to the market shares. many departments are being squeezed with budgets and politics plays a big role.

    Advice to Management

cut some fat layers in management will do more good to the company, and saving more money than cutting the employees.

    Pros

Work life balance and flexible work environment Intelligent and responsible co-workers with superb managers Large company offers many options for lateral movement Competitive salaries Good values that are demonstrated through action - social responsibility, care for the employee, etc.

    Cons

People management positions hard to come by and only after 10 years experience approximately. Larger company is typically slower to move and role scope is generally limited because of size and complexity of the company. Culture is not one of innovation and is attempting to get younger and more nimble but has some way to go. This is not your twitter or google!

    Cons

    - Career progression opportunities can be tough for some routes - Org. can sometimes be too complex to work with - Innovation recipe is yet to be found - Too much focus on the US

    Advice to Management

    - Make innovation part of employees' daily routine - Open up more career opportunities for potential future leaders - Go back to the consumer market to create stronger brand awareness
