I have been working at Citi full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Remote work is awesome for a work life balance. I work with some very intelligent people. Lot's of room to grow and learn existing technologies.

    Cons

As a software developer i want to stay away from making widgets. I want to work on projects that are interesting, and give me a chance to build new technologies. Citi as a company isn't focused on this. They care about reducing cost (as they should), stockholder perception (as they should), etc. I am projecting my career goals here; however, there are limited opportunities to invent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should not survey it's employee for better ways to manage. If your a manager / leader / officer of the company isn't that your job? It's frustrating to know big bonuses are being paid to managers who get told how to be better. If the idea is mine shouldn't i get a cut????

I have been working at Citi full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great place to learn about global banking and finance when you are starting your career. The training and development programs are truly beneficial and open doors if you work hard.

    Cons

Big global company inertia means enacting change in culture, systems, processes, ideas, and pretty much anything away from BAU is a huge undertaking.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay the course, things are on the right track.

    Pros

There is an effort towards diversity in the bank. Citi has business almost everywhere so there are opportunities for international assignment and experiences. Also possibility to change from one role to another with the right amount of networking.

    Cons

People who focus on a career path have less opportunities for growth. Period of stress when certain deliverables are due.
