The job itself was not too horrible, but the company shows almost no signs of care for tenured employees.

I worked at Citi full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Retirement and benefits package are very competitive. On site cafeteria is a nice perk as well.

    Cons

Pay and retention policies leave much to be desired. I found out that a new hire with no experience was making significantly more than a multi year tenured rep.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay senior members of staff more than new hires. Turnover rates are very high and taking care of existing employees would solve that problem and boost stats.

I worked at Citi full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I got nothing. I guess benefits are standard.

    Cons

Very hard to advance. Management development programs are poorly managed. Citi HR probably do more harm to the Citi brand than anything else Citi does.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change performance review process. Performances should not be done without the knowledge or input of the employee. They should also require the manager to provide written backup to support their numeric selections.

I worked at Citi as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Large company, growth potential. Competitive salaries, pays interns well

    Cons

Everyone seems miserable, slave to the job. Constantly working all hours of the night, kind of a hostile environment at times. Bosses are not afraid to yell or raise their voice to employees, which I feel is very unprofessional and unnecessary.

I have been working at Citi full-time

    Pros

There are a lot of training opportunities

    Cons

Citi says it supports a work-life balance and lets employees work remotely. Then it uses the fact that work can be done successfully while remote to justify moving the job to cheaper locations.
The matrix relationships between managers is crazy -- its pretty hard to figure out who works for who & what the real priorities are when you report to three different people at a time.
It's just too big -- it shouldn't be as hard as it is to get things done, but the organization is so complex that even the little things take forever to accomplish.
Its still very much an old boys network and doesn't take the time to really groom managers. Some of the behaviors they reward are really beyond belief.

I have been working at Citi full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Telecommuting Options, Global Enterprise, Good 401k match

    Cons

Stack Ranking, Stress, No direction, Salary, Lackluster Payraises

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The biggest salary increases are given to the top performers, that's fine and understandable. But, you need to understand that your top performers in the tech side of things are not what is keeping the business afloat. Also, stack ranking cultivates a culture of fear, in technology this doesn't work! You need collaboration and acceptance that technology will move forward faster with more people working together sharing their ideas vs. stabbing someone in the back to get a bigger raise.

    I worked at Citi

    Pros

If you are interested in a company that offers internal movement, this one would do. It's nice to work for a well known company

    Cons

The people who advance are the ones that never stick their necks out. Therefore, mediocrity is rewarded and the company lacks good middle level management.

    Cons

Extremely low morale. Poor Management. Gross Favoritism. Little to no growth opportunities. Pay raises are joke.
