I have been working at Citi full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Citi may offer competitive benefits, except for health insurance

    Cons

There is very poor internal meritocracy and have NO means to promote employees. It has become a political place and hard place to stay longer
Senior Management is on the wall street
Hiring decent people has been a challenge in my team

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Forget about 'VOE' and Listen To Employee (LTE)
Build positive image for Citi, NOT by just compensation.

I have been working at Citi full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Some line's of business allow the ability to work from home (salaried employees C12 and above), but warning that now many require being on IM all the time and on video/camera make you feel micro managed when working from home. Nice benefits on vacation, sick and holiday time off for salaried employees.

    Cons

Get as much money as you can upon initial hire. Big promotions come with small bumps in pay for twice the responsibility, stress, and hours. Raises and annual bonuses went from great to pathetic in the last 7 years. The office environment lacks passion and inspiration. The culture is dead, especially the Regent campus. Too many contractors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reduce the number of contractors, bring in people who will stay IF you find a way to do raises that at least meet inflation. Things like VOE(Voice of the employee) are a joke, no impactful/meaningful change ever comes of it. Also, too many duplicate teams across all lines of business - need to centralize so you don't have 5 people chasing the same thing.

I worked at Citi full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great benefits, most people are committed to what they do

    Cons

Hard to advance once pigeon-holes into one position; salary increases were on a sliding scale

I have been working at Citi full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good starting pay, potential for other careers, chance to make global networking and exposure

    Cons

Mandatory 1 year wait before posting for other jobs, no chances to work remote or for flexible work arrangements.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get with the times, most employees who are non-essential work from home.

Huge company with some good segments

    I worked at Citi

    Pros

Because of its size, there are opportunities to move from one sector to another to gain knowledge of, and experience in, different businesses.

    Cons

A lot of bureaucracy, declining compensation, and positions moving to India at a rapid pace.
Company talks of meritocracy, but it doesn't exist. Truly a place where "it's who you know, not what you know" that gets you ahead.
Many fiefdoms where business heads rule with impunity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to value your employees more.
Recognize their skills, experiences and contributions.
Management needs to deliver on its commitments to its shareholders and its employees.

I worked at Citi for more than 5 years

    Pros

For a bank, great work-life balance. Focus on developing employees. Very large firm with lots of divisions and geographies to explore.

    Cons

There is a lot of red tape. Highly political environment, to the extent that it detracts from getting the job done.

I worked at Citi full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Keeps you so busy, time passes quickly. They provide access to training.

    Cons

Promotions and raises are generally risk based as opposed to merit based. In not so many words, you'll be asked how little can we pay you without you leaving. There are good managers that do reward based on merit, but they are hard to find.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please realize that every remark you make, even if made in a humorous way causes hundreds of people to jump and begin ad-hoc work.
