I have been working at Citi full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Decent brand. In order to attract talent, they pay well but no hikes and bonus after that.

    Cons

Extremely high attrition. Not a good organization. No work life balance. No professionalism. No hikes and bonus. Hire and Fire policy. No work ethics. Extremely high politics. People even go for paycuts after citi, it is that bad. Experienced people with 10+ yrs of work experience too leave within a year. In first 5 months with citi, i was the oldest member of my team. Freshers, please do not start your career with Citi. You will never get the confidence in your career and they will ruin it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

get your management in place. try to retain people. give them on the job training. Do an introspection why people do not stay beyond the initial 5 months in Citi. There are no leaders to look upto. Money cant buy everything.

I have been working at Citi full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Nice people in the department. Flexi time is a benefit. Lots of career progression (which is also a con in overtime under Cons).

    Cons

OVERTIME. There is NO technology (fully automated manual process). Senior management flip flopping. Upward massaging of the truth on every level! Absolutely no forward thinking/planning. The only working process is crisis management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

learn something about the business before making decisions affecting it.

I have been working at Citi full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The best reason to work here would be the money if you were paid right. If you have connections and can get into the in crowd, you can make a lot of money.

    Cons

If you are not in the right "crowd", you will run into a wall very quickly. Management is cut throat and very protective of the lofty roles that they don't deserve but are holding on to at all costs. They were willing to see the company go down in flames rather than cut fat at the highest level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look to your right-Fire that guy. Look to the left-Fire that guy. Hire two people for 10% of that money who will make the company a better place to work.
Cut the red tape that is associated with a bank at all costs.

I have been working at Citi

    Pros

Nothing really. Managers will not even talk to people.

    Cons

Outsourcing initiative will not end until all NYC operations employees are gone. Management is surreally out of touch with reality.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get your heads out of the sand: if people had anywhere to go they would be leaving you by the troves.

I have been working at Citi full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    The Benefits are great.

    Cons

The pay is pathetic, they don't care to keep the employees they have because they know they can find someone to warm the set and they will pay them less. You are not encouraged to be creative and when you are you will not get any credit, it goes to your manager and your manager will not acknowledge you. The job description changes monthly if not daily. You will never be kept in the loop of the recent change and you will be reprimanded for not doing it correctly. You will never be respected or thought of in any positive manor and that goes for entry level all the way up to upper management. Be prepared to always be wrong, finger pointing occurs often. The list of Cons can go on and on. I would not tell my friends of job openings unless they are desperate for work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None. They say the 'C' in 'Citi" stands for change and it's never a good thing. I have no problem with change. I've worked there for almost 12 years but I'm waiting for Hell to open up and swallow Citi.

I have been working at Citi full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I have met some interesting people

    Cons

The saying it's not what you know but who is so true! Cannot move up or out of teams.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is no talking to upper management. Tried several times to no avail. Most peoples advice, leave and reapply. You not only usually get a job but you can also get a bigger increase in salary.
