I had a true growing experience with the company good and bad.

    Management (Former Employee)

ProsIt was an upgrade of pay from the previous company I worked for and to move up from within the company was a breeze, just know your work, apply and constantly show.

ConsI was constantly on the defense of proving myself and my worth and everything thrown at me I accomplished well but it was a lot of personal issues within the company that I grew very tired of that wasn't able to be fixed because of who know/knew who within the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo your job by the book correctly not just as what you think is fit for every situation.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Good people but horrible upper management and policies.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsIt was a great place to work for the most part. The team you have is what makes the job good or not. My team was well rounded and most of my staff were flexible and hard workers.

ConsIt's best to stay a sales associate and not get into management with this company. They don't allow enough work hours to properly staff a store on a regular basis. They have expectations that are unrealistic. Loss prevention is a joke. They want the associates to monitor customers yet they give you too many things to do and not enough people to get them done with.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire an employee specifically for loss prevention so managers and associates can focus on their work. Cater to the needs of your employees more by making sure the stores are properly staffed. Staffing problems don't start with managers making a schedule and employees calling off or being late, it starts with hours allotted to the store to staff people.

Citi Trends: The good and the bad...

    Sales Associate (Current Employee)

Pros- Great opportunity for those who have other things going on in life such as school or raising a family
    - Easy to learn job

    Cons- Pay is low
    - Hours are low
    - Once minimum wage was increased that was considered my raise
    - When assistant managers quit sales associates pick up the slack but at a sales associate pay. I find myself doing the work of the assistant manager without their pay

Advice to Senior Management- Please hire more reliable managers
    - Consider giving raises which would give associates a better desire to work there even longer

    Great people, morally bankrupt company.

    Sales Associate (Current Employee)

ProsThe customer base is diverse and friendly, as are staff at most stores. This is a great first job. Depending on the in-store management you will gain lots of experience that will be key in moving up in the retail industry. Even if you are part-time, you get good hours which helps you cope with the relatively low pay.

ConsEveryone starts at minimum wage. No associate discount or perks. The company practices pertaining to merchandise and the care of stock will have you feeling guilty 100% of the time,

Advice to Senior ManagementShow your employees you appreciate them! They deserve more than an every blue moon discount. Give your associates more responsibility to remove some of the stress managers. They barely have a chance to take a lunch!

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
