Current Employee – been working at Citizens Financial Group
Pros – unrivaled compensation for top performing sales people
great benefits package including 9% 401k match, 8k tuition assistance, 22 paid days off
bankers hours!
best lending rates around, best deposit rates around
Cons – too many account changes and fees for the customers make it difficult to please everyone
there is way too much pressure to sell, sometimes i feel like a used car salesman
Advice to Senior Management – Stop making us sell extra checking accounts to people that already have them with us. That doesn't grow market share it only increases cost.
You created customer commitments, live by them don't just read them off a piece of paper

Pros – A comfortable work environment with knowledgeable senior staff and management. Flexible hours and a reasonable work load. Accommodating of personal needs.
Cons – Advancement is a slow process, leaning the job functions well occurs long before there is an opportunity to advance. Potential is limited by a small number of slots for career progression.
Advice to Senior Management – Increase the number of training opportunities. I don't have any more advice than this. Your twenty word minimum is making me not want to join this site.

Current Employee – been working at Citizens Financial Group
Pros – 1. Senior management in the risk sphere seems to be very competent.
2. Role offers great exposure to upper management (EVPs), who value your opinion
3. Salary/benefits are competitive given that workload is not too onerous
Cons – 1. Huge organization so it may be hard to quantify your overall contribution to the firm
2. Uncertainty regarding future (and bonuses) given 80% ownership by UK government.
3. Does not appear to be clear-cut career progression; need sponsors within organization to chart career path
Advice to Senior Management – 1. Increase interatction between business line and corporate staff (e.g. risk and banking), as well as different geographic areas). This could include school-based or interest-based community networks within CFG
2. Lay out career progression more clearly

Current Employee – been working at Citizens Financial Group
Pros – The best reasons? Well, let's see. In every branch I've worked in, all my co-workers have been extremely friendly and helpful, not only to their fellow colleagues, but to the community at large. Also, I find that when I need the occasional vacation day, it is usually never a problem. Although there is some competition, there is still a strong team atmosphere within each branch.
Cons – There are some downsides. If you'd like to get promoted within the company, it depends on who your manager is, and if that person is willing to support you in your efforts. I have found that some managers, not all, would rather keep someone in a position they may have outgrown but still do well in, than to challenge the individual with a more complex role within the branch.
Advice to Senior Management – Please create a more structured method for promoting within the company. Leaving the promotion decisions strictly up to the individuals immediate supervisor can create inconsistincies within the competency level of certain positions company wide. Meaning: People who are ready for the next level could be held back in one branch, where someone who is not as prepared could be promoted in another branch.

Former Employee – worked at Citizens Financial Group
Pros – Ability for younger employees to interact with higher executives for better recognition. Great leadership program for new grads. Exciting new opportunities to move over seas due to the recent acquisition by RBS (Royal Bank of Scotland). Ability to work in new comities to help first hand with new products and innovations. Friendly managers, vice presidents and coworkers. People within the Marketing department are easy to work with, and helpful for the most part. Competitive salary with good benefits. Good opportunities to grow, and move up into a VP position. New train station with many new lunch choices opening up right next door.
Cons – Very stuffy and corporate at times. Lack or training tends to create a steep learning curve. Transitioning to a new reporting system without enough training or direction. Sometimes very long hours, working past 7 and on weekends. Resources stretched do to current economic issues. Raises are not always just, and additional compensation or recognition is not always given. Due to the changing environment (with the recent acquisition by RBS) many holes in employment, which causes problems to go unresolved, or added work load. Changed managers many times due to people leaving or moving around the company. Job security may be a problems. The office facilities were a bit run-down (but they will be moving to a new building soon)
Advice to Senior Management – Continue improving products and innovations. Grow the new leadership program for new graduates, to determine thier best fit within the company. Develop a move complete training program to help new hires transition their roles, and old hires to learn newer reporting technologies.
