I worked at Clear Channel full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The job has its moments of fun. You get to meet famous people occasionally and take a picture to post to Facebook. There are perks of free tickets to events also.

    Cons

In the radio business these days there is not much opportunity for advancement. There is definitely not much room to grow in Austin.

    Pros

    cool atmosphere, plenty of perks.

    Cons

Training was pointless. Pay is all commission and no reimbursement for gas. management was no help.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Helping your employees instead of just making them watch a video for training doesn't help your employees.

I worked at Clear Channel full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Fun people, great perks, room to move up in some departments

    Cons

Overworked, long hours, management does not realize all the hard work that some teams do, not allowed to be as creative as possible (held "inside the box"). Don't expect a raise.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention to what lower totem pole employees are doing. They put in a lot of hard work that usually goes unnoticed.

I have been working at Clear Channel full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Working at clear channel I have developed some great relationships with co-workers. All departments interact with one another.

    Cons

Clear Channel should increase the salaries of all none account executives wages could be improved. Most of everything is needed ASAP even when it's not urgent can be somewhat annoying.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management could implement more team building exercises. I feel management could also provide employees with training in other departments employees may be interested in.

Former Employee - Senior Account Executive in Los Angeles, CA
Former Employee - Senior Account Executive in Los Angeles, CA

I worked at Clear Channel (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Getting to work with great station managers and working with amazing co-workers in offices across the country

    Cons

hard to advance if you don't come out of the New York corporate office. Competency is irrelevant the person from NY will fill management openings

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Place more value on your employees. Pay them fairly for all the extra hours the AE's devote to your bottom line. AE's shouldn't have to find another job and file their letter of resignation in order to receive a pay raise. Also not classy for the GSM & President to drop the F'bomb on an employee upon their resignation because they leave for a competitor.
