    Incompetent Leadership

Public & Media Relations (Former Employee) Cleveland, OH

ProsOpportunity to learn and to hone one's skills. Work can be interesting at times.

ConsHigher than average turnover in the department. Director encouraged in-fighting among her team rather than a collaborative environment. Thus, much competition among team members to get noticed or promoted. No structure - department was run more or less by the "seat of the director's pants." Additionally, the department's director was more inclined to throw anybody on her team under the bus if it meant saving face.

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in your people. Bring in consultants who can provide a roadmap for hiring not only talent, but a cohesive, team-oriented group of people who can work well together. Take ownership for managing your team and empower them to do their jobs.

ProsGreat benefits, and incentives for healthcare.

ConsManagement and leadership issues are extensive.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire more leaders and people that understand employees. Managers with no real contact are ruining the brand.

You get the feeling of being controlled and micromanaged not only at work but at home as well.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe medical benefits are nice, and you get decent vacation after 5 years.

ConsThose benefits get worse every year, no raises to speak of. Stay in the same job you will lose money each year.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo something to properly compensate those who show expertise in their positions.

    PSR

    PSR (Former Employee) Twinsburg, OH

Prosit at least Paid the bills, position is tedious, and over micromanaged, benefits are ok, go for a position they care about

ConsTwinsburg location cares little for employees, views them as cattle, everyone out for themselves, very cut throat, management immature, don't now how to relate to people, give good lip service, incompetent and under educated, constant infighting between employees and physicians, poor culture

Advice to Senior Managementlearn how to be good people

    Technology tools lacking

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsWorld class hospital where the doctors are their chief asset
Initiatives exist to increase employee engagement
Benefits are pretty good..health, ltd, etc

ConsHospitals don't seem to invest in the proper tools to make their technology partners successful. This should include laptops with docking stations and increased ability for mobility which should include wireless, webex, and technological provisioning for all employees. Trusted technology associates should be allowed to work from besides evenings and weekends. This is a soft benefit that goes a long way.

World class hospital where the doctors are their chief assets

In the department where I worked, management was not trained as such and opted to use fear to keep employees in line.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet some training.

Some good, some bad - generally frustrating overall

Non-Staff Employee (Current Employee) Cleveland, OH

ProsPay is manageable, although, possibly below market rate. Benefits are decent. Some co-workers are friendly. My supervisor is a good guy, fair, and reasonable (i.e. very un-Clinic-like).

ConsAn abundance of politics and bureacracy is present in the work environment at all times. To many levels of management, too many cooks always stirring the soup, too many people to report to and get approval from before proceeding with anything. Plenty of preaching about one thing, and then doing the opposite. Processes are inefficient in alot of areas. In too many instances, "everyone" does their own thing and is not willing to "think like one health system" (hopefully, that is changing). There are so many projects and initiatives going on at one time that nothing can get done in a reasonable amount of time without significant unpaid overtime. I truly believe we do everything we can to give our patients the best care and overall experience. However, I think non-medical employees are not treated very well, overall.
