I worked at Coach full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

-Access to the best tools, systems and third party partnerships
-Excellent HR-run classes, seminars and presentations from key leaders allow [corporate] employees an expansive view of the company's inner workings
    -Employee discount
-Considering other fashion brands, many teams have a relaxed dress code
-Some of the veteran directors are very observant and make well-informed decisions. You can learn a lot from them
    -Summer Fridays
-Long company history cements a sense of brand identity

    Cons

-Promotions are rarely given out based on professional qualifications and the bonus structure sounds tantalizing, but is unattainable due to poor stock performance and most of the bonus tied to company share prices
-Office is located in a dead zone - several avenues from transit, food or anything else
-Management never does anything wrong - every outright failure is re-spun as a success or barred from open discussion because people are afraid of management
-Very strict hierarchy over-emphasizes rank at the cost of the dissemination of ideas
-The most qualified individuals are all leaving in droves for better paying opportunities over the past two years; faces change frequently
-Most teams operate in silos with a tribal mentality, duplicating work and sharing very little information

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value people who occupy business-critical roles. Many feel they are treated as expendable. A sense of joy and fun wouldn't hurt, given the magnitude of most workloads and the gravity of the brand's market position. This can be a truly great place if management makes just a few tweaks to the way it treats people. Definitely continue investing in HR-run training courses, seminars and events - they're a terrific resource.

    Pros

Not competitive and sharky like other retail brands that do commission. Great workers

    Cons

but a little disorganized in spreading company information and policies within the workers. Not much room to grow at this moment in this company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better, more structured environment would prevent miscommunication.

I worked at Coach part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Lots of training and coaching
    -Awesome discount
    -Professional environment to work in
    -Strong company culture
-On par with other retailers regarding work-life balance, time off, etc.

    Cons

-Being 'secret shopped' was a constant point of stress. You are always worried you may have missed one of the seven steps of service with a client and you will get crucified if that person happens to be one of the secret shoppers. I absolutely understand why the steps exist but it makes working with clients feel like a less genuine experience.

-The Coach brand as a whole is not once what it was. Its been cheapened by the outlets and full price promotions.

-Coach needs to stop trying to reinvent itself as an upscale brand. You're never going to be Louis Vuitton, Hermes, or Gucci. Those clients are totally different and will never see Coach as a luxury brand. In going after this ungettable get they have alienated their customer base. This is especially unattainable by skimping on materials and manufacturing products in China.

I worked at Coach full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Discount and bonus program. Structured company and on boarding.

    Cons

Pay for everyone but store manager is lower than other high end retailers. Expectations are extremely high for the pay of a sales associate. Nothing is good enough even if you are achieving numbers. Full Price went to extreem couponing which then in turn lowered customer demand. Stress is high on in store team to make unachieveable goals. They hire for looks not ability. Do you have the "coach" look?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Open your eyes because you will continue to lose smart people. The longevity within Coach is become a 1y stay vs. a 8+y stay. Can't you see retention is low. Look at district and regional management to find the cause of this issue.

    Pros

Learn to work at a fast pace. The hours are flexible and we all work as a team. Can learn multiple jobs throughout the store. It has lots to offer if you want to consider to stay with the company.

    Cons

the challenge here is that you need to be consistent. You need to learn the products and know how to up sell all the time. Even though you don't run off commission, the company still has its goals to make.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

depending on certain manager, sometimes there need to be better communication with their employees
