    Pros

Good marketing and branding activities to make the company look good from outside. Global opportunities to move around across the globe.

    Cons

There is no business consulting nature of work. Most of the consulting guys have no exposure to business consulting and do not have the capacity to handle clients. They are paid less than tech consultants.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn what is business consulting and give training to consultants. It does not help a mba b school person if he is just picked up from campus and made to do anything that is not even related to business consulting

Former Employee - Senior Analyst in Boston, MA

I worked at Cognizant Technology Solutions full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

I don't see a good reason to work for any Indian companies like Infosys, TCS, Tech Mahindra, Cognizant, etc

    Cons

Middle management does nothing except to heed to client requests and makes the low paying employees slog day and night. This is true if you are off-shore coordinator working from US. The offshore team is not setup efficiently. The onsite coordinator works day (at client location) and night (to manage the offshore team - it even includes reviewing all their work).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring more skilled people to onsite. And reduce onsite load.

    Pros

I cannot for the life of me see any pros. The high pay is all a ploy to wrangle you into the job and then they treat you like a dog, and force you to work overtime for no overtime pay. They demand that you meet whatever workload is thrown at you, no matter how rediculous it is, and then threaten you, and treat you so %$@*&& unprofessionally. They scream at you through the phone, spewing vitriol and threats. These cretins need to go back to whatever hole they crawled out of.... go back to Teaneck and whatever foreign country you come from.

    Cons

They work you like a sweat-shop dog... demanding that you work 14 to 16 hour days until the workload is done, but you get no overtime pay... now ISNT THAT AGAINST LABOR LAWS??? They have no idea if the workload is justified, they just want it done. So the nice salary that they snag you with is really only half as much because you are puting in a 60 to 80 hours work week. I will be filing a report with the atty general and anyone else I can think of very soon.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    a) hold your higher level employees responsible to treating people like human beings. Screaming through the phone at someone should be a firing offense! This is 2014 and that old-school bully crap is fo rthe birds. There is a cancerous "northern attitude" that is evidently throughout the corporation. Almost everyone that I met Teaneck, is rude, back-stabbing, liars, and snitches. Everyone is so freaking miserable, they treat everyone like hell, and will stab you in the back in a heartbeat. STAY AWAY!!!

    Pros

During a weak economy, you can at least say "it's a job".
Salary is paid on time and benefits are average.
If you are an Indian on a USA visa, this is an Indian firm and you might get along well with the Indian culture.
Company has a lot of client sites so you will typically be able to stay busy.

    Cons

    - Indian firm is not easy for Americans to navigate through.
    - Company puts you on corporate bench the day you finish a client site, and lays you off 4 weeks after you go on bench. This corporate policy has no wiggle room in it.
    - There are metrics for how well your yearly evaluation goes. So no matter how well you do, only 10% of employees are allowed to be rated with "excellent". These ratings equate to your bonus, so many do not get a bonus.
    - Weak methodology - no internal methodology exists, and CTS rarely uses ASAP correctly (if at all).
    - Management changes their direction and the structure of the organization almost yearly due to very weak performance in USA. Clients usually unhappy, and not enough new logos sign on with CTS. As such, the VP and Director structure as well as the vertical responsibilities change yearly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire a consulting firm to come in and set up a highly performing corporate structure and create KPI's for each level of the company.

    Pros

I was lucky to get good project after wasting my 1 n half years.

    Cons

Junk level company to swear on god.
After separation i was running up and down for my service letter they dont give a damn to your mail, hrss team tell clearance is pending with admin and admin tell your clearance is pending with HRSS team.
Your package is not what is mentioned.
Your promotion and onsite opportunity is subject to favoritism. Managers send those who s chamchas and not those who have qualifications, they are ready to loose their business even for this.
You will get lots of appreciation the whole year and it will be completely ulta during year end appraisal, they give dumb reasons like you didnot participate in outreach and fashion show activities of company.
Have you ever seen this situation where the client appreciates the resource everyday and is ready to do anything to retain that resource but the company give all negative feedbacks because you didnt participate in fashion show and outreach?. It is just to block the promotion and help those chamchas get promotion.
In my friends year end review they mentioned the person has worked very well in qtp framework when he donot know a damn about qtp because he was working on salanium, this indicates how much they are concerned about the work.
My PF is still not transferred in ICT because the damn HRs have put wrong date of joining in PF govt portal and they dont give a damn to your concerns until you file a legal suit on them.
All good resources quit in 1 or 2 years because there are better opportunities. CMMI level 5 mentions they should try to retain the resources, this is not even a CMMI level 1 company.
No doubt this company came up because of Y2K maintainance job (which noone where ready to take that time). Or else they would have been out already.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recruiting 5 lakh ppl and keeping 3 lakh ppl on bench is of no use. Learn to keep good resources. There are lots of opportunities outside.
