    I worked at Colgate-Palmolive full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

In my position, I was hired earlier than usual. I came in through a non-standard internship in which I had incredible mentors, and then, access to a position in marketing that I would never have normally obtained without an MBA or 3 to 6 years of prior experience in my field. Therefore, I learned a lot, and met wonderful people along the way.

    Cons

The company is full of great people who are highly skilled in their fields. That said, there is a lack of potential to pursue creativity or innovation; or to build skills beyond the slow-moving corporate training. I could hack it now, but as a younger Millennial at the time, I reached a point at which I needed to branch out externally to further my career.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not discount the creative drive of employees. If hires need mentoring in a particular skill set, give it to them. Also, as a company leader, I would not begrudge employees assistance in further education other than MBA degrees. Instead, I would urge HR to consider what sorts of educational opportunities could be enriching for employees in a way that could enhance the capabilities of specific departments.

I have been working at Colgate-Palmolive full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Multinational, opportunities for growth and development (especially if you are geographically mobile), good training curriculum - especially leadership skills, respectful people and good teamwork. The everyday working environment is relaxed and fun, although this may vary by team / function. The company has clear strategies, future vision, strong ethical values, as well as a very solid financial performance.

    Cons

The compensation and benefits are average (the bonus and annual raises are low). After a certain point, career progression requires international mobility, even outside one's continent, and the expat package budgets are getting lower and lower. Demanding management, a lot of pressure, fast moving environment but also many long processes can be frustrating and bad for work life balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They are doing the right things for the business. They should not forget giving people opportunities for growth and motivation in the context of tough global economic environment and corporate restructuring.

Once Upon a Time It was One of the Best Places to Work

I worked at Colgate-Palmolive (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    - It is a place where you can learn a lot if you are lucky to get a good mentor.
    - Hardworking team.
    - It is a top brand so it really boost your resume.

    Cons

    - Top level lacks empathy with employees.
    - Set year objectives for employee, plus a huge volume of everyday job. If you do not accomplish all the year objectives you are qualify as an inefficient employee, even if you were outstanding on your everyday job,
    - Low salary

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Recognize people contributions, even if they do not seem like such a big deal.
    - Don't just boss around; be mentors, coaches and leaders.
    - Bring back the caring value, it doesn't feel like you care anymore.

    I worked at Colgate-Palmolive full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Very good compensation, benefits and work life balance. The company has very good core values and fosters a team environment.

    Cons

The company has been restructuring for the past 30 years. It's very difficult to plan a career with the company. Senior positions within the company are selected from global candidates as opposed to employees working their way up the "ladder".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

At what point does the company understand that people are required to perform the jobs. The company has an extremely healthy bottom line and it was people who made it happen.

    Pros

Good benefits (health, dental. sick days, vacation)

    Cons

Promotions tend to be based on politics rather than work accomplished
Little focus is put on developing and retaining young talent

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of clueless manager. Give young employee more opportunities

I worked at Colgate-Palmolive as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

    Great people to work with.
You can be innovative without borders.
    They respect personal education time.
Great company... to put on your resume.

    Cons

Salary sucks if you're a BP, contract or temporary.
Personal growth is only available if you look for it yourself.
Management is not really there for you most of the times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't hire BP, contract or temporary people. You're making great potential employees for OTHER companies and creating those so called "career advancement" outside of Colgate-Palmolive.
