I have been working at Colgate-Palmolive

    Pros

    -good pay
    -flexible hours
    -they pay for your education
    -people do respect each other
    -no pressure/stress on the job

    Cons

-no career growth for people that are just starting out
    -company is too conservative
-they have strict rules on people working from home only after a year
    -managers aren't too technical
-ideas are welcome but they prefer to stick to their old ways

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-take classes and become more technical
-management is full of 1st generation people that have not caught on to the latest technology
-it is OKAY to employ new people
-a good manager is one that is able to do all of the work on the team and knows how much time and effort each task may require
-relying on certain members of the team to figure out "what next???" shows inability to lead a team.

    Pros

Very successful company with great benefits. Wonderful place to start your career. You get to work closely with some of the most successful companies in the world (Like Wal-Mart)

    Cons

Very thick glass ceiling that can only be shattered by moving up the chain slowly. Seriously -it takes decades to advance there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have groomed a lot of great younger talent. Let them take over much sooner and guide the company to even higher heights.

-very traditional company. mostly run by sales
-its all about cost-cutting and hitting volume targets to report to wall street
-current leadership team is not so caring. morale is really low. very low staffed. they squeeze their peopel

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    -value your people more
-invest behind your brands and build equities. you can only do buy-one-get-one-frees and free-after-rebates for so long before your brands become commodities

I have been working at Colgate-Palmolive

    Pros

Coming out of College it is a good company to start of with
Knowledge of low level workers are very helpful to you.
Gives you access to move up rapidly to a Grade 13 (That is when things start to get hard)
Offers in house courses to help you

    Cons

Pay Scale is low especially if you live in NY area and are thinking or having a family and are a grade 14 or less
Tuition Reimbursement $10000 per year especially in NY area for graduate courses is low
Communication is poor like most big companies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not sure what can be done so that people will listen. Still cut throat and have to be very careful and watch out for your best interest
