  1. Great place for student workers

I worked at College of Lake County part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Most jobs available for students at the College of Lake County are flexible and accommodating. CLC gives students an opportunity to gain job experience while attending school full- or part-time.

    Cons

CLC was undergoing a lot of changes just before I left; they were eliminating positions within the college that were no longer deemed necessary. However, I don't think this had any effect on student employment.

    Advice to Management

Hire students with some prior job experience.

Colleges are not run like a business and are often slow in the operations side.

    Pros

Working at the College of Lake County provides great resources for those who are interested in developing their personal education and skills, while bettering the lives of others. There are always opportunities to expand your role within the college.

    Cons

Like many workplaces, there are politics that can get pretty tricky. If you stay out of those, then you're golden.

    Advice to Management

Reviewing staff is really important. Everyone deserves to have a job, and yet the staff owes their jobs to the students. People that are not performing to that standard should have to prove themselves. Job security should not be determined by number of years worked, but rather performance on the job.
