I worked at Column Technologies, Inc. full-time

    Pros

Good company if you really want to learn the product. Plenty of opportunities to expand on your own knowledge.

    Cons

Advancement is difficult, be prepared to work non-stop, travel is on your own time. Management is very disorganized - the inmates run the asylum.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Managers need to lead - not micromanage or make decisions without having all the facts.

I worked at Column Technologies, Inc. full-time

    Pros

The people at Column are some of the best in the industry. There are also some truly innovative ideas within the organization.

    Cons

The company does not always follow policies, but rather the whims of of upper-management. This includes the bonus policy, that does not appear consistent in its timing nor the methods it's calculated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Deal with abusive managers (even if upper-management) in a consistent manner.

On and Off Work, nickel-and-diming for expenses

I worked at Column Technologies, Inc. full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Very professional, responsive management. Fantastic technical and professional experience.

    Cons

In a misguided attempt to appear to be looking out for the customer's bottom line, traveling employees are required to save their meal receipts and keep booze off them entirely, instead of just using the standard GSA per diem rates.

As a retention measure, employees who leave the company of their own volition are required to repay the required training they received.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Switch to per diem, drop the training repayment structure, or at least soften it in light of the fact that billable time will cover it in no time.

    Pros

As employee's keep working for different clients, you will come across various kinds of requirements/works which inturn improve your knowledge.

Will strike good work life balance with gaps from project to project(until u get next project).

Small and Growing company - dont expect benefits or perks.

    Cons

Works like Consultancy..A lot to catch up with MNC's in terms of process and culture.

Employees keeps roaming to client locations to finish projects which lasts few months. If constant travelling is not your thing..you are screwed. Stay Away.

You will sign a bond to work for 2 Years with company otherwise you will not get your experience certificate. Bonds are against India constitutional laws but still..Indian Companies know how to screw you.

I have been working at Column Technologies, Inc.

    Pros

The company's relationship with vendors allows easy access to documentation and Knowledge Articles.

    Cons

Column includes a 120 day "probation" period in their offer letter. As part of this, no vacation time is accrued until after the probation period is elapsed. If you need to take unpaid time off during the period, it starts to raise a red flag.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your employees are not your enemy. Stop binding employees with draconian contracts and punative rules.
