I have been working at Combined Insurance full-time

    Pros

I have worked here for about 4 years. One thing I noticed was the training is great!! It is for 2 weeks and encompasses ALL types of traininng; classroom, field, and role playing. Also, being W2 is great because company benefits are paid out. Combined is reptuable in the insurance industry and has been around for 90 years; so they are very established.

    Cons

Communication is lacking. I feel the 'management' team is playing everyone's best friend versus actually being management and doing what is right. they tend to side with 'friends' and help them out then the other person. I dont agree with it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would promote those that are deserving rather than the ones you favor.

I worked at Combined Insurance full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The advantages of working for Combined are the initial training of its products and sale culture or the PMA (positive mental attitude) philosophy. They are one of the very few companys with leads, and customers who expect to see you good or bad, no going after your friends and family. If you can sell here, you can sell anywhere, industry recognized. You can rise to management fast if you work hard, promotion by results not who you know!

    Cons

The cons of working here now, is the plight of being assigned to someone who looks at you as a number and gives no learning curve support. You are an employee, but no time off policy or vacation policy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The upper echelon management must make Marketing/Territory managers accountable to the 4/8 week training of new agents to produce long term agents. There is no incentive for long time agents to move into management i.e 10 days vaca for year ( more than that as a new employee), small salary. Theres more freedom as an agent.

I worked at Combined Insurance full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

weekly pay, decent commissions, great training, list of current customers to sell too.

    Cons

lack of new prospect leads, as a manager they want you to travel 4 plus hours to meetings.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

less horse whipping and more ride along training. Invest in someway to get realtime cancer insurance leads and worksite marketing leads. pay the employees a salary longer than 3 weeks and have field trainers that get a piece of the action.

I have been working at Combined Insurance full-time

    Pros

Some of the good things about Combined are: Pay about average, benefits pretty good, leadership very focused on growing the company.

    Cons

Some of the challenges are that they are looking for a lot of company growth, but are not very concerned about employees growth/path. Like a lot of companies during this job downturn they wish to make sure they get there money's worth, but are not worried about talent leaving for greener pastures.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think the really good employers have figured out that if you treat employees well then you will get more in return and all will benefit in the long run. That may be difficult while trying to drive growth, but short sighted approaches only work in the near term.
