I have been working at Commerce Bank full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

I have great coworkers, I love working downtown, the building is in an excellent location, Commerce is active in the community, on-site security.

    Cons

Management clearly plays favorites, training is abysmal, pay is crap, chances of being promoted from within are slim to none, management refuses to acknowledge employees, certain employees are worked to the bone while others are sitting at their desks playing games and watching videos on their phones because management refuses to give them more responsibility.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have no advice to management. They are beyond help. They clearly don't care about their jobs anymore and are counting down the days until they can retire.

I worked at Commerce Bank full-time

    Pros

Can get away with a lot if you know who to know

    Cons

Cheap bank, lackadaisical management, a good ole boys club. No one is held accountable, especially if you've been there for a long time. CEO is a goofball, surprised he can dress himself in the morning. They used to try and develop some of their own software, which consisted of a 4th grader's power point presentation. The sheer amount of craptitude that people got away with was jaw dropping.

    I worked at Commerce Bank

    Pros

Easy job with little supervision. Training easy and quick. The benefits were ok.

    Cons

Management only worked opening and gave bad shifts to new hires. Sat on the Internet all day. Behavior terribly negative. Never talked about or encouraged advancement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire positive people. Get out of the executive office once in a while to find out what really happens within the organization.

    I worked at Commerce Bank

    Pros

Benefits are good for full time employees

    Cons

Hired as part time with no benefits, but the whole 4 months I worked there I worked full time hours. No flexibility in the schedule for part time employees. 1 week after training was required to work on my own with no other teller for 2 days a week handling both drive through and lobby, causing me to feel pressured into moving faster, resulting in mistakes. Talked to Teller supervisor and branch manager about this.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Part time workers were treated as inferior to the full time employees.

I have been working at Commerce Bank

    Pros

If you love the status-quo, enjoy being led by an attorney with zero management (i.e. MBA) knowledge or experience, and have zero initiative - you'll love this place!

    Cons

Low pay, poor workforce quality, opaque communication

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Senior management should get MBA's or take some management/leadership classes. By far the worst I've ever seen, starting from the top.
