Nice people to work with but total control exerted by the head office and folks from the head office.

I worked at Commerzbank full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Good benefits including vacation and medical. Good for people who wants a stable and low paying job with less pressure.

    Cons

Cut costs and not even offer paper cups to visitors, low pay, no state of the art technology, no possibility of growth, zero telecommute tolerance even when governments declare emergency and a very hard CEO who cares only about his bonus by saving every penny instead of advancing and taking a positive approach to life.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Before the management shift happened around 2009, the place was wonderful to work with under a great management team. New management criticizes the old and the policy of increasing revenue by cutting every penny instead of taking a positive approach to growth kills the employee morale and no body gains anything.

I worked at Commerzbank full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    - Very little, decent benefits and random employee discounts
    - I was able to get a nice severance package
    - Pre -merger this review would have been different

    Cons

    - Read the news about this place and it's only a matter of time before they shut down the North America operation.
    - Very corrupt and unintelligent management.
    - No work from home.
    - Working with other departments is a hassle
    - If you don't have an english or german accent you will get nowhere

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Don't lie to auditors.
    - You are allowed to accept ideas from other people
    - Don't justify no bonuses when you authorized $400 million to the city of Detroit.

I worked at Commerzbank full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    - Much more vacation time than most companies

    Cons

-Post merger senior management looks down on almost all employees. Very arrogant. The idea of telecommute baffles them.
    - Dress code down to material of clothing
    - If you don't have an accent you will not get far
    - Employee morale is low. Everyone looking over their shoulder either expecting to get fired or severance.
    - Limited growth

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop micromanaging skilled managers with pointless $300k+ 'director' positions. Managers are afraid to think for themselves because of this. I've never seen a company go so downhill from a merger. Treat employees like human beings not business objects.

I worked at Commerzbank full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Amenable co workers, good location, airconditioned , security ok.

    Cons

In a nutshell it feels a very sad place, long gone is the former prestige.
Endless re organising, questionable management, feels a bit of a job-worthy culture, many contractors often negating permanent staff input, obscure appraisal process, poorly trained line managers, distant uncommunicative HR, pointless or badly explaned processes, no real help for personal development or proactive care for staff well being, canteen going a bit downhill, facilities poorly maintained and sometimes out of order, mouldy showers, building getting generally tatty.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go back to school, learn how to listen to staff as a person and not a resource.

I have been working at Commerzbank as an intern for more than a year

    Pros

Location in the city, that's it

    Cons

Rolling intern contracts year after year is not okay. Keeping graduates on graduate contracts without any bonus or benefits for over 2 years. Not letting the graduates and analysts meet clients and go on business trips. Cutting Bloomberg terminals with 50 percent on a trading floor is a bad idea

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You lack vision and ability to move your business forward.

I have been working at Commerzbank

    Pros

    - for juniors good way to get a lower team job in the Commerzbank later
    - good for tired consultants who like Frankfurt and don't want extensive travel anymore
    - some really bright colleagues, but they don't stay long

    Cons

    - CEO is tired, slow in understanding and highly political
    - Some partners give the impression of engagement on a tchacatchaca basis, but fail to deliver intellectual convincing ideas or results
    - was a good place two years ago with some strategic projects, even internationally, now more body leasing, project office, IT related and workbench for the bank
    - image in the bank has gone to the negative side

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - try to develop and sell projects
    - try to find projects that interest the majority of consultants
    - hire more consultants not specialists to avoid body leasing

    Totally inflexible
    Back stabbing culture
    Morale is very low
    No room for career growth
