    Pros

High level of flexibility and autonomy in job
    Lots of development opportunities
    Good work/life balance
    Worthwhile mission statement

    Cons

Lack of clear vision/leadership at the department level
Benefits/salary not always in line with market rates
High level of reliance on temporary contractors to remain adequately staffed
Lack of well-developed or well-documented processes
High turnover means that institutional knowledge is easily lost

    Advice to Management

The mission is worthwhile and there's a lot of reasons to want them to succeed, but often times there's a reluctance to go with the cheapest opportunities in the short term rather than what will provide the most value in the long term. This applies to both staff and technological resources. Keeping employees in-house and compensating them fairly will be a step in the right direction for not losing institutional knowledge.

    Pros

Variety of projects. Enjoyed working for members and responding to their need for health care information. Great company mission.

    Cons

Lots of management shakeups and lack of marketing direction. Much was done in a seat-of-the-pants manner.

    Advice to Management

Set marketing goals and priorities -- and execute them.

    Pros

Good work/life balance and benefits. Compensation is mid-range, higher than some places, lower than others. People are nice. A good stopping place on your way to someplace else.

    Cons

No real leadership. Decisions are made by committee to avoid individual accountability. Increased competition in the Medicaid marketplace is turning this into a serious liability.

    Advice to Management

I would give you advice, but I don't think you are capable of change.

    Pros

Great people to work with, health benefits are average. Tuition reimbursement for employees a descent benefit. Transportation benefit an added plus for employees.Current CEO a great addition to the company.

    Cons

Customer Service department is not appreciated fully for what they are required to endure on a daily basis. The pay is on the low end fo experienced c.s. HR not always sure about certain benefit applications. Antiquated phone system.Understaffed IT dept. HIGH Turnover should speak volumes about the company. CEO's ideas do not trickle down to customer service in any meaningful way.

    Advice to Management

Update phone system to the 21st century requirements, Add qualified IT staff, EDUCATE HR re:EMPLOYEE BENEFITS, Demonstrate to the Customer Service Department that you truly appreciate their efforts by implementing meaningful updates. Stop telling the c.s. dept. how hard their job is and help seek solutions to improve morale and ways of conducting business

    Pros

It is a great starting point in the health area. The tuition reimbursement is great! They do offer great benefits such as time off for community service and it does not count against your vacation time. This can be used to help out in the community or help in your child's classroom. CHP does communicate very well what their ideas and or plans are for the company. They do this by closing the company once every quarter to hold an all staff meeting. They are also very involved in the community. We have events that we sponser, March of Dimes, Breast Cancer and Asthma awareness.

    Cons

If you are looking for career advancement you will want to look elsewhere. The only time that you are recognized is in your evaluation you get annually. There is also a huge disconnect when it comes to Customer Service and all of the other departments. Customer Service does not get the many "perks" or "credit" given to the other departments. We are only recognized by the company for one week in October, Customer Service Week.

    Advice to Management

Create more opportunities for younger people to advance within the company. Start asking questions of the non exempt employees to see how they feel and any ideas they may have.

    Pros

The company has good benefits, transportation assistance and decent pay but not desireble

    Cons

There is high staff turn-over and it is an extremely disorganized company

    Advice to Management

Eliminate the dysfunction across the board and work on retention of performing staff who need a better incentive program.

    Pros

Great benefits, good moral among customer service, ok pay(enough to allow you to live), Tuition benefit is very nice.

    Cons

Managers are at a horrible disconnect with customer service, Customer service managers can be rude, current team lead is a bit of a joke, ridiculous rules while on the clock(For example in customer service, between down-time you are not allowed to read or you will get written up), Participating clinics are a a joke as well(i.e. seamar), claims system is good awful.

    Advice to Management

Allow your customer service representatives some leway when it comes to between calls. At least allow them to read a book. Have the customer service managers attend a HR mediation to know what they can do and can not do. Have provider relations put the clinics in place.
