    Pros

Breaks, get to work in a hospital and clocking out.

    Cons

    Horrible management, favoritism, and deciet.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I use to work at Carolinas Hospital System here in Florence South Carolina. The nurses etc talk about their patients in such mean ways I couldn't believe it. Some of them are lazy and no one says anything. Horrible management, call lights are on for god knows how long. They are constantly being sued. No wonder why. And the management are liers. They will tell you one thing then take it back and make it look like you were in the wrong. Worst place ever. DONT COME!!! Better off at McLeod

    Pros

Based on my experience, observations and speaking with others there is little to say positive except for a paycheck albeit knowing not if the next day will be the last. Many of the worker bees are good folks though.

    Cons

As with most corporations, the management treat individuals with little respect, quick to chastise with little appreciation for integrity unless friend or family.

    Pros

Was paid well and kept busy. Enjoyed the travel which was 100%. Gained valuable experience.

    Cons

CHS is financially driven in a negative way. The powers that be don't care that they use cheap and inferior electronic documentation systems in the smaller hospitals. Not allowed to 'think outside the box' and not open to suggestions for improvement. CHS constantly changing processes but doesn't communicate changes to those of us working in the field. No appreciation for the long hours put in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to communicate and listen to those of us working on site, working day to day with the EMR products. Corp can put anything on paper and make it look/sound good. The reality is what those of us who work on site see how the EHR product lacks functionality and the frustration.

    Pros

Cannot think of any pros to working here

    Cons

Management lies to your face; only concerned with bottom dollar; work/life balance is not promoted; budget neutral job movements yearly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more transparent and honest; less deceitful and vindictive.

    Pros

I have not found any yet.

    Cons

Since CHS took over our hospital/clinics, people have been laid off without any notice, staffing is at extremely low levels, we can't get anyone to reply to emails or phone calls wnen we need help, and we have to go through a CHS person instead of calling the company that runs the system we use when there is a problem. Morale is down, it's not the happy place it was pre CHS.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat the employees better, respond to emails, treat us the way you want us to treat our patients.

    Pros

Love the people I work with, though I probably would love them just as much if the greedy swine at the top of this corporation would stop giving themselves raises and massive bonuses and give something to there labor force.

    Cons

Upper management is hell bent on acquisition and maintaining their bonuses. That means you get a 1% annual pay increase and your told to be thankful for it....

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop being so greedy and short sited.

    Current Employee - Registered Nurse
    Current Employee - Registered Nurse

    Pros

lots of overtime to be had until your as burned out as the few remaining nurses that are not travelers who have no vested interest in the community of clarksville tn

    Cons

poor pay, dangerous situations due to lack of appropriate staffing. holds where pt ratios that out number the icu. management that knows there is an issue but refuse to address it. lost 15 nurses in 90 - 100 days they try to chalk it up to them being military dependents but they are not they are good experienced nurses with no ties to military. they are the nurses that see where this ride is going.
long time employees with poor attitudes they just refuse to fire.
patient care is no where in their list things to do just moving patients through like cattle. all just about numbers and time.
there is no team or team work. this is a hospital that needs to reassess what it is doing and fix it.
having a new grad nurse 2 weeks off orientation being a charge nurse on the floor is not safe or smart.
there is no chance for personal growth as they do not have an educator or offer more than bls pals and acls.
emergency nurse association recommends a 3 to 1 pt load you get buried here in a 4 to 1 load of often heavily laden-ed workups on patients.
the atmosphere and morale are degrading daily.

    Pros

Okay insurance plan. Good physician staff.

    Cons

No regard for employees. I know of one employee of 30 years summarily fired as a cost cutting measure...by Email. CHS customarily pays wages in the lower 1/3 of market rates. Nurses are routinely denied time off for doctor's visits and the like even with several weeks notice. Profits are far more important than patients. Employee turnover is high. The only comraderie among employees stems from the feeling that misery loves company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Our hospital is among the largest in CHS yet, to the best of my knowledge, none of the Nashville executives have ever set foot on campus. Try to manage the hospitals you have rather than focusing on sucking up even more.
