Internal Promotions are hard to get

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

Free drinks when you work, also get a cheap tumbler when you start. Pay is above minimum wage. Get good experience with customer service.

    Cons

No structure. Rules are like plastic, they can be broken by some and seen thru by others. No room for advancement. No one who truly cares about the well being of the workers. The training is terrible. I could go on for days.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Think about what the employees go through every single shift. Dealing with patients and nurses can be stressful as it is and then you give us training to do on top of that. Not cool.

I have been working at Compass Group USA

    Pros

    Flexibility

Management - if you get a great leader much like any other company your experience could be great.

Benefits - pretty even with everywhere else nothing extra high cost.

HR Dept - Always there for you not much they can do.

    Cons

    All these Vary by Dept.

Management - It all depends of what department your in, but Compass seems to let each department head run as a Small country if you get stuck with Fidel Castro then your SOL. no one will help you.

Growth opportunities - only if you become friends with the right people.

Technology - old technology not very bleading/razor/dull edge more like 1990's apps running on modern platforms.

If you looking for a place to retire and be doing the same tasks for the next 20 years this is the place for you!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of all IT management and get some real Leaders not Followers. This company could be great if you start hiring real managers! People who foster change and shape it to the benefit of the whole organization! Not to get praise but to have the feeling that your a part of a whole not just a lonely Cog in the machine.

As for myself i am lost never coming back but, there are some talented individuals that you lose due to bad management of people and not bad work.

I have been working at Compass Group USA full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of resources and many people to meet. Lots of talent and the ability to create amazing products.

    Cons

For a 9 billion dollar company it seems many accounts lack the support they deserve from the hourly level to the manager level. It is uncomfortable when unrealistic expectations are set up for management and hourly associates.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend the time to support ALL accounts and do not leave until they are flourishing. It's a shame to see good people chewed up when all they need is guidance.

    Pros

The people I work with are great. As far as I can tell, they are sincere.
    Dress code is business casual.

    Cons

Cafe is very expensive considering this is a food service company. They do not subsidize.
Medical benefits are expensive, I cannot afford the family coverage as it is too expensive and I know I am not the only on in this situation.
This company is so huge and is extremely profitable but it does not trickle down to the employees at all.
Raises are tiny, no type of bonus at all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give more benefits to your employees. They deserve it.

I have been working at Compass Group USA full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Unlike many planning jobs, this one allows your schedule to be during normal business hours 99% of the time with the very occasional late evening or weekend event that requires you to be on site (a handful of times per year in my experience).

    Cons

While the title is "Event Planner" a more accurate description would be "Event Data Entry." Occasionally you will be asked your opinion on menu items or furniture sets, but for the most part you just enter your customer's requests into the event management tool. Compass Event Planners aren't very highly regarded among the rest of the industry, so staying here too long could hurt your chances at finding a new job in the industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Planners need to be recognized as individuals with different skills and talents so work-load can be distributed appropriately.
