    Mixed

Director Operations (Former Employee) Atlanta, GA

ProsOperations/Customer Service was a great place to execute on high-value ideas and initiatives with little red tape and be recognized for initiative and hard work. Management did a great job of creating an optimal environment within Operations and cross-functionally where possible to deliver results.

ConsIntra-department politics & related business ineffectiveness not addressed by Senior Management. Diversification of core business to improve stability.

Advice to Senior ManagementSenior Leadership was not trusted, probably due to being too disconnected from employees. Value people and their ideas. Understand what's going on closer to the front lines. Build trust. Actively and intentionally engage people, remove roadblocks, empower each department, and your employees will drive success for you.

    Collections Representative at CompuCredit

Collections Representative (Former Employee) North Wilkesboro, NC

ProsCompuCredit offers a lot of flexibility as far as working full time or part time. There are also different shifts that you can work which allows a lot of people to work and a lot of new jobs offered in the area.

ConsWorking on subprime credit cards and collecting was terrible. The people you are collecting from have the worst credit possible and it's hard to get them to pay. You are compensated on how many people you can get to pay thier past due credit card.

Advice to Senior ManagementOffer more advancement opportunities and training for employees. Stop sending all the jobs overseas, no one wants to hear from somone from overseas.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Atlanta, GA

ProsThe people are the best. Everyone works very well together.

ConsCommunication is not very good between management and employees. The business units don't communicate with each other.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep your employees more informed on what is going on. Each of the department heads need to talk with each other.

Fun place to work when market conditions are in its favor.

Assistant General Counsel (Current Employee) Atlanta, GA

ProsThe company in general is entrepreneurial. They are willing to pursue new ideas and new industries. Management is heavily vested in the company and willing to be aggressive in making major decisions. Also, job roles aren't always restrictive, so one can provide input outside of their specific area. Depending on the area, the company is mostly not bureaucratic and very much merit-based in how people are treated. Also, their compensation rates have historically been on the higher side for the industry. Further, CompuCredit is genuinely trying to offer a better value proposition for its customers, so it's good to know that the company, despite stories to the contrary, is trying to do things the right way.

ConsThe prospects for consumer lending for the subprime population is very poor. Given the challanges facing this entire industry and the limitations on funding sources, this company is simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Much will be decided in the next year regarding the continued viability of the company. Also, the benefits package is limited, though compensation is normally solid.

Advice to Senior ManagementStay aggressive. Look at process improvement more in trying to cut costs.

Can be a good place to work ... while it lasts

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsSome parts are bad, some are better - but one has to realize that you work for a dying subprime giant.

ConsThey will lowball you on pay; and promotion opportunities are non existent since the whole thing is going under soon,

Advice to Senior ManagementBranch out into the different areas to survive - subprime credit card lending is dead and it is not coming back.
