Think twice whether a potential employee or a possible business partner

    Analyst (Current Employee) Detroit, MI

ProsDecent benefit package, nice group of caring co-workers.

ConsNo performance evaluations for 4 years despite escalating to Management, likewise minimal raises. Salary not competitive with industry. Vacation time has restrictions not openly communicated to staff. Poor departmental communication as well as poor Management communication. Constant turnover with Sales staff. Poor training and career development. Can't sell if you don't know the products. No upward mobility. Cliques galore. Good ole boys network. Many needless layers of Management where VP's and Directors have minimal number of direct reports. Lacking in overall strategy to grow the business.

    Company in transition

Program Director/Manager (Current Employee) Detroit, MI

ProsPrevious executive management had an extensive reach into several corporate organizations for a variety of contract work offerings. Medical and dental are competitive.

ConsInteresting work options are drying up. The Business development leads cannot mine enough opportunities to keep the people busy or interested in sticking out the uncertainty.

Advice to Senior ManagementCreate a strategic roadmap for the employees to show them plans for future growth. Engage or hire industry leading experts to help regroup and grow the business.

Good Place to Start a Career. Not much room for advancement.

Delivery Consultant (Former Employee) Detroit, MI

ProsGreat community of people. Always willing to help each other. Resources always available when you need them. Good company to be at if you want to learn about multiple areas of technology.

ConsNot much room for advancement no where to progress your career. Ask you to relocate without any choice. Compensation is not competitive. The job gets boring after a few years and there is no where to advance your career.

Advice to Senior ManagementToo concerned with Wall Street and not enough focus on the employees. This company used to be different years ago and now the culture has changed for the worse.

My first job out of college

Database Developer (Former Employee) Lansing, MI

ProsI learned a lot about database development during my stay.

ConsPay was extremely low in my opinion.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay your employees better. I heard many other employees complaining about their salary.

    Avoid the Milwaukee consulting branch

Information Analyst (Former Employee) Milwaukee, WI

ProsVariety of assignments. Staff includes a wide assortment of interesting people.

ConsLong periods of "bench time"—expected to be in the office with no duties. No telecommute option; no leeway given for bad weather or other emergencies. Severely antiquated equipment (e.g., huge fifteen-year-old monitors that leave no room on the desk for a keyboard). High-pressure environment; some account managers are bullying and rude. Unattractive work environment in an out-of-the-way location (West Allis).

A once great company continues to decline

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsPay is decent, benefits are good and there are some good people.

Consstale leadership, yes men/women in middle and upper management, old school management by intimidation and no accountability

Advice to Senior ManagementClean house across the organization and get rid of the old crony management. Quit trying to find a place for them to do the least amount of damage...it doesn't work. Bring in some real talent with real world experience, leaders who have experience somewhere besides CPWR. You can't drive innovation and inspire your people by beating the same old rusty drum.

    Meh

    Support (Current Employee) Detroit, MI

    Pros-Vacation Time
    -Not micromanaged by direct boss.
    -Colleagues
-Age is valued here (so far!)
    -Amenities at HQ
-Free entertainment during the lunch hour (i.e., music, watch movies being filmed, etc).

Cons-We share the building with Quicken Loans (many of them are highly obnoxious)
-Executive management (what direction do you want to go?)
    -Lack of communication across departments.
-Too many changes; most seem to be done so that those in management are making their mark.
-Product name has changed many too many times in the past 18 months.
    -Pay could be better.
    -Working in Detroit
-Slow career growth, especially for those who don't have technical background.
-Other internal issues, but I won't go on.

Advice to Senior Management-Give raises. You can afford it.
    -Better communication.
    -Get focused.

Long time employee that has seen too many bad decisions made by management.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThere are alot of amenities in the headquarters building.

ConsToo many people in positions because of who they are related to or friends with versus actually knowing how to be a manager or a professional.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake a good look at current management and question all decisions because bad decisions keep being made.

Some decent APM technology, specifically dynaTrace, but leadership is weak at the top. Finance is a nightmare.

    Sales (Current Employee) Boston, MA

    Pros-dynaTrace technology is decent.
-If you are looking to coast this is a company that will appeal to you.

Cons-Leads never get routed properly, wasting all the marketing efforts
-Meeting after meeting with little action
-Compensation plans take forever to come out and Finance will not pay commissions until plans are out. We are 5 months into the fiscal year and I have not received a commission on one deal sold so far. Same thing happened last year.
-Senior Management within the APM business unit may have good intentions but Compuware Corp leadership cuts their legs right out from underneath them.
-Products are launched without proper testing and customers end up being the guinea pigs

Advice to Senior ManagementPray that Compuware is purchases and the APM business unit is spun off.
