    Pros

Great products and for the most part good colleagues. Provide great work life balance and development opportunities.

    Cons

Company has decided to go private. Roles are undefined as they reorganize the support group structure and work load distribution is uneven.

I have been working at Compuware full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Professional services Division model is more similar to other IT consulting Giants like infosys,Wipro. 401K and other benefits are good and competitive. For freshers, it would be an ideal start where in they get exposed to SDLC phases and get to work in different kinds of assignments. Managers are friendly and assist in meeting your goals and objectives.

    Cons

Not a vast base of client pool. That means, you may be in off assignment for a longer period of time.

I worked at Compuware full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits were among some of the best offered in todays market.

    Cons

Growth opportunities are minimal unless you start at an entry-level position or work at Corporate HQ. And in some cases, it's who you know, not what you know.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The new management regime had no clue when it came to retaining the best workforce. Some of the longest tenured employees had more to offer than current management would admit.

I worked at Compuware full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

It's a good place to work with smart people, interesting work, and an opportunity to have an impact as an individual contributor or part of a team. Company has been improving strategic focus over the last couple of years.

    Good work life balance
    Good amenities at corporate HQ
Ease of mobility if you put in the effort

    Cons

Office culture is not centrally managed. Pockets of progressive culture exist, but there is a lot of resistance to changing the status quo.

    Limited compensation increases
    Risk during downsizing initiatives
    Heavy on upper middle management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put additional resources into training, employee development and talent management
    Flatten out organizational hierarchies

I have been working at Compuware full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

After years of merging, product line and business are good in distributed products. work-life balance is really depends on the position, some position are very demanding. Headship is doing a fine job, a lot of politics although it's not a big corp. Now the old engine got a new look but inside it's still old. Family oriented culture is being abandoned but new culture takes time to establish. Good employer if you are in Detroit area.

    Cons

Your work life will be very much depends on your line manager, and chance of promotion will depends on your location, as well as personal relationship within the company, if you are out of Detroit, basically very hard to get any real promotion. Compensation is on average side.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Really think about how to retain good people.

I worked at Compuware full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

They take care of their employees. Very good salary, second-to-none benefits. The building downtown is a great place to work (although the commute is awful).

    Cons

It was a great place until the company started coming unglued. Venture capitalists have been pounding the board to "unlock value", which now means sell divisions and dump people, left and right.

"Employee development" is laughable. There are no opportunities for serious training.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I don't see any future at CPWR. Even if I could have my old job back, I don't think I'd take it. The company is just circling the drain.

The times recently when mgmt has "communicated" to employees, it hasn't said anything useful...check that...hasn't said anything at all.

    I worked at Compuware

    Pros

Great products and fantastic people (non-management).

    Cons

Politics, old outdated thinking, significant unequal pay. Lots of tenured employees that have clout, but are not hard working or pleasant to work with. Annual trips to Detroit are a complete drag.
