    Just wear the uniform...

Driver Sales Representative (Former Employee) Minneapolis, MN

ProsPay is VERY good, benefits were continuously reduced but better than most, company core values were solid...

ConsYou soon realize that regardless how much they pay you, it isn't enough! Company doesn't value the hard workers so the mediocre ones prevail, poor morale, high-stress job (company induced), underpaid management created disdain and disrespect with the core employees (the drivers)...

Advice to Senior ManagementGet back to the principles the company was founded upon. Treat the drivers with respect and you'll receive it in return.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Doesn't live up to its reputation

Dsr (Current Employee) North Atlanta, GA

ProsWhere to begin? Well, you get 5 free uniforms. If you need/want more you have to pay for them. 6 paid holidays. Most of the drivers are pretty good people. You get a paycheck. Yep,thats about it

ConsMicromanagement to the inth degree, crap for handheld computers, computers always crashing. When the weather goes cold fork lifts wont start. Benefits suck for first year employees. Pay is ok but if you think your going to get ahead you are mistaken. You wear many hats here.City driver, dock worker, yard jockey, linehaul driver. Hell if you have mechanical experience they would have you working on trucks too.IF you can get overtime it will only be by minutes. Start times are non existant until you have been there at least 5 yrs. They call you approxamately 2 hrs before you are required to startand by god don't be late. Never know when your getting off. Get a raise then cut your hours. When i started driving a truck 20 yrs. ago Conway was the place to work. Great pay, plenty of O.T great benefits, pd vacations, personal time off. To get on with Conway people had to die before a position opened. I will say their is at least one person in management that is really trying to figure out the problem at our terminal and trying to amend the problems.

Advice to Senior ManagementWanna keep employees, quit worrying about your bonuses. Hand out O.T (at least down here in the south). That is one reason there is a high turn over. A person works 40 to 49 hrs a week and only brings home between $600 and $700. If a driver is used to making more and now you don't make enough to cover your bills and buy food drivers wont stay.

Don't bother working here. Dead end job

Dock Worker (Current Employee) Blythe, CA

ProsDecent pay..I have to add five words but that's too many to describe the pros of working here

ConsThe hours, the management, the pay could be better. No real opportunities to move up, working conditions are terrible. Morale is terrible, supervisors can keep track of the hours. Company clearly doesn't care about the customer or it's workers. Maybe it's just my service center but it's a bad place to work

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat your employees better and maybe you won't lose all your good ones

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

One of the worst places I've worked for. XIN terminal (Plainfield, IN)

    Dispatch (Former Employee) Plainfield, IN

ProsMeeting new people and learning a few things here and there.

ConsManagement, hours, the amount of unprofessionalism is mind blowing. No room for growth, and a lot of false promises.

Advice to Senior ManagementWatch your supervisors more often, shadow them often. Pay attention to each and every employee. Some may be great employees and you're just looking over them and paying more attention to someone who has been there a year longer. Seniority is great in small doses. Some of the people have been there for years but have no idea how to do their job. Pay attention to those who have been there less, you'd be surprised with their skills.

    Terrible military employer

Dock Worker (Current Employee) Fremont, IN

    ProsNone don't care for anyone

ConsTell you the care about employees then when military disability comes an issue for them. Don't work well with anything

    Down hill from the start

    Dsr (Current Employee)

ProsHome every day. Close to the house.

ConsThey lie to you to get you in the door. Once you start they change everything. They change your bid constantly. They do not honor "seniority". Did not get a raise this year, because they spent too much on cameras, that video tape the driver. They are looking for anything to blame on the drivers. They now are looking into making the overtime after 50. Cincinnati has already started that for new dock workers. The insurance costs $68.50 per week and doesn't pay squat until you hit your deductible. The first year and 3 months of insurance has a $7000 deductible with 70/30 plan. The second year plan has the 80/20, but it doesn't pay anything until deductible it met. They hired new dock workers and are giving them a $3 per hour increase, but not the drivers. Management disrespects the drivers constantly. The company has NO concept of safety, even though they say it is their core value. My moral has been beaten into the ground. The progression rate for full scale is 5 years and 3 months. You don't get the big raise, until the 5th year. 4th year is .49 cpm, but most get fired or quit before then. Docks are exhaust filled and hot during the summer. Slick, frozen and dangerous during the winter.

Advice to Senior ManagementQuit crapping on your number one resource (your drivers).

Horrible job. Bad long hours, no appreciation and stressful environment

Freight Operations Supervisor (Former Employee) Fridley, MN

ProsDecent money. Good benefits and learning capacity

ConsHorrible atmosphere, hours and appreciation. All employees I've met hate everything about their job but opinions go unheard

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to employees and pay accordingly. You get what you pay for.

    Driver

Driver (Current Employee) Saint Louis, MO

ProsPay. Make ok money for the work we do.

ConsNever move up. Every time you move up the company does something to push you back. They treat their drivers like crap. Always looking for a reason to write somebody up. They have no respect for you. Now they are hiring part time dock workers to replace drivers on the dock. Some drivers have worked there years to earn the early 5am shifts and now they are pulling that out from under them. They treat the part time workers better then drivers. Every year insurance goes up but your pay don't. Place is turning into Vitran.

Advice to Senior ManagementLearn to treat people with respect and maybe you can get drivers to apply at Conway. It shouldn't be a surprise you can't hire anybody. The word is out about how bad you treat people.

consider it just a stepping stone

    Driver Sales Representative (Current Employee)

Proslocal home, every night monday thru friday

Constrapped in a dead end, no steady schedule, play politics to survive in that environment, throw back what they give you to defend yourself. high turn over, anyone gets fired for minor things. lots of oppressing rules which just discourages considering the take home pay

Advice to Senior Managementpractice what u preach. stop playing politics. apply the rules to everyone evenly not according to who you are

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
